Hi I'm Emily

I am a native Coloradan. I went to BYU-Hawaii. I'm a missionary. I love to laugh. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a native Coloradan. I love hiking, slacklining, backpacking, playing in the snow, rock climbing, anything on the lake, camping... I love the great outdoors! I was a student at BYU-Hawaii majoring in Business. I laugh almost 95% of the time. I love being surrounded by friends and staying up talking and laughing till the sun comes up, but there's nothing like a quiet night in watching Scrubs and crawling into bed at 9:30. Right now I'm serving a mission in Boston, MA spanish speaking and I couldn't be happier! I love this gospel and I love sharing it with others! I could eat rice or toast for every meal and be completely happy. Nice to meet you!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was raised with LDS standards. For so long I could say that I was a member because I was raised that way. After I started making decisions on my own I came to know for myself that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that there is no other way on earth to achieve the pure joy that we can find through our Heavenly Father's teachings, and I absolutely love being happy, so there is no other way I'd rather live! I am a Mormon because when I act in accordance with the gospel, I am truly a happier, more organized, and more successful person. I am a Mormon because I know that the teachings are true. I know that with and through them we can be the happiest version of ourselves. I know that we have a living Christ who is our perfect example, and a Heavenly Father who loves us. This knowledge helps me to love life for better or for worse, through the good and the bad, continually growing and learning so that I can someday return to live with my Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by simply being me. I live it by smiling, I live it by sharing my feelings towards the gospel with anyone that is interested in hearing. I live it by going to church every Sunday. I live it by living every day with no regrets. I live it by serving others.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Emily
The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. By holding the priesthood, you have the power to baptize, the power to heal, the power to lead. It is a great and beautiful thing that the men in our church, when worthy, can hold. BUT for us ladies, we have motherhood. It is one of our many rolls in the church. It is just as beautiful as the priesthood. We have the opportunity to bring new life, to raise and help our children, to lead them through life. It's not a direct ordination like the priesthood, but it is given to us by God. We lead the church through motherhood by bringing up children to be the best they can be, and by setting an example to them through our actions and choices. I'm not a mother now, but I am anxiously waiting for my chance years from now to look at my baby girl in the eyes. To take on my roll in the church as a mother. Show more Show less
