Hi I'm Elaine

I am a wife and mother. I am a watercolor artist and I teach elementary school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, and artist. I teach art at my school. Personally, painting, printmaking, and drawing are my most loved mediums. I have shared my love of visual art with my family and students, along with my community. Street murals and trail head signs are just a few of the ways I have hopefully added beauty in my little corner of the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised to love the Lord and love the Bible by good parents and grandparents. One of my best friends in elementary and middle school was a Latter Day Saint. She was an amazing example to me of living a Christian life. Years later as I was majoring in art in college, and had begun student-teaching, I was visited by two missionaries who invited me to read a Book of Mormon they gave me. It was the Lord's voice, the same one that prompted the writings in the bible, and I recognized it in the pages of this book. It changed my life and gave me the answers I had always asked that was unclear from my protestant upbringing. Knowing the Lord loves all His children, in every part of the world, who follow His teachings has given my life an eternal perspective. My testimony is that He lives, loves, and guides His children today.

How I live my faith

Serving my community and youth is important to me. Participating with the young women at church on Sundays and helping plan weeknight activities is a great joy. I love the children and the youth. They are strong and full of faith. Teaching art in the community helps me to portray the magnificence of God's world to others, and encourages them to use the gifts they have been given- the gift of sight, and the ability to capture and create in visual art what they see, think, and feel. By creating art, others often reflect in their works their testimonies of God, this earth that was created for them, and the amazing beauty around us.
