Hi I'm Marla

I live in the United States. I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a Sunday School teacher! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom and I love it ! I spend my time with my husband and our children. I love to cook, sew, paint, fish, ski, and ride 4 wheelers with the kids.

Why I am a Mormon

When i met my husband I was 21... I was of a different faith, but immediately I noticed the closeness and unity of his family....how they laughed, and how he treated his mother. There was some special feeling there that I wanted to be a part of. It wasn't until I attented church with him that I noticed this peaceful secure feeling with everyone I met. I automatically knew I wanted to be part of this faith......I met with the missionaries, was baptised on New Years Eve and have been a member for over 20 years now.

How I live my faith

"Living" the gospel of Jesus Christ isn't something you just try do on Sunday. It is something that makes up who you are. It shows in your actions, your service, your words, and your countenance. It is being who the Lord wants you to be when no one is watching. It is anonymous acts of kindness that change lives. This is the type of person I strive to be. This is how I live my faith....beacuse I know...that my Heavenly Father is always watching. :)

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Marla
I was sooo surprised when I attended for the first time and didn't see an offering plate passed.....which led me to this topic. Clergy doesn't get paid, those serving in the church do so willingly....being compensated for telling others about the gospel of Jesus Christ just doesn't make sense, and is not in accordance with His teachings. Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Marla
Our bodies are the "house" that our spirits reside in. Therefore, the saying.."your body is a temple" It is very important to nourish your body, both mentally and physically. Harmful substances not only deteriorate the body, but the spirit within. Show more Show less

What is the Relief Society?

Marla
The Relief Society is the oldest and largest women's organization in the world. It is made up of the female members of our church. When I was a new member to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I thought it was a very strange name on the door of ladies' Sunday School class. "Relief Society". Little did I know, that when I met the giving women behind those doors, how much sense the name really made. Simply stated, it is a society of women that provide relief to others. They bless the lives of many, both within and without our faith. As a Latter Day Saint, and a member of Relief Society, we accomplish great things without wanting recognition. The blessings that come from compassionate service far outweigh public accolades. Show more Show less
