Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a convert to the church and I reside in rural Arizona. I have a wonderful wife and three great sons. Above all, I love family and I enjoy spending as much time as I possibly can with them. I am a retired policeman, and I really enjoy being in the service of others. I am the director of an organization known as the Duncan Valley Police Activities League, which pairs police officers with the youth. The organization provides both educational and sporting opportunities for our youth.

Why I am a Mormon

When I started investigating the church, I was 36 years old. I had some Word of Wisdom issues ( coffee ). Over a three year period, and at least three different sets of missionaries. I couldn't get over the issue, and I blamed members, using the excuse that I knew mormons who were using coffee and cigarettes. Then one night while I was alone, I received a personal revelation from who I believed to be the Holy Ghost. During that encounter, I received a message that said plainly that I was only responsible for my own salvation and not the salvation of others. Therefore it was not my right to compare other's faults as a reason for not joining the church. It was testified to me on that night, the truthfulness of this gospel. Although I was officially baptized a few weeks later, I was really converted that night. That was in 1994, and since, I have been married in the temple, and have three boys who were born in the covenant.

How I live my faith

In the New Testament, Jesus tells us all to follow his example. That example is best exemplfied by loving and serving others as best as we possibly can. Although, I fall short of salvation without Christ's saving grace, I do my best everyday to walk as an example before my fellow man. I try to serve others both in my community and my church. I serve the youth, both in my community and in my church. I try to make my family the focal point in my life. I do my best to impart of my excess substance and make provision for those who are more in need. These are all examples of our savior, even Jesus Christ.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

John
In 1 Corintians-3:16, the apostle Paul ask the people " Know ye not that ye are te temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" In that scripture, Paul is referring to our human bodies which are created after the image of God, and are holy. It is our responsibility not to defile or harm our bodies. Show more Show less
