Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a frisbee fan, I'm a mom, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm originally from Salt Lake City, UT, and my husband and I live with our darling little daughter in Seattle, WA. We're expecting a little boy soon as well, and couldn't be happier. Besides doing various projects around the yard and house, we love being outside doing things - the trunk of our car always has croquet, bocce, a frisbee, and several kinds of balls just in case we happen to be in a place to play! We love to picnic, camp, hike, bike, snowshoe, and play sports, and have surprised ourselves with the kinds of things we can still do with kid(s). I also love to cook, read, sew, and learn how to do new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a very faithful LDS family, so the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints always made sense to me - it answered all of my questions and has addressed my concerns about everything from why we are here to why things happen the way they do. One of those concerns was whether I was a "Mormon" because I truly wanted to be or just because I didn't know any differently. In the Book of Mormon, additional scripture that testifies of Jesus Christ as our Savior, each of us is challenged to pray and receive answers for ourselves - to know the truth independently from anyone else. I did pray, and I received a confirming feeling in my heart and mind and soul that the things I believe are true. I no longer worry that I am Mormon just because my parents are, because I know for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. It has everything that Jesus Christ established while He was on this earth - His organization, order, revelation, Priesthood authority, covenants, and the Holy Ghost that He left for our guidance. All of the truths have been restored and it is possible for everyone to know that for themselves.

How I live my faith

The Church encompasses every aspect of my life. I have become a stronger person and a better wife and mother because of it, and it offers the constant assurance that I can continue to improve. I have been helped through school by keeping commandments such as keeping the Sabbath Day holy and paying my tithing. I have been kept from danger and from hardships as I listen to and act upon the words of the Prophet, including those words contained in scripture. I have even learned skills including sewing, singing, cooking, and more from Church activities. And I when I feel there are no resources for the problems I am facing, I can pray and receive guidance directly from Heaven.
