Hi I'm Todd

I'm a family counselor, a husband and father, a camper, a marathoner and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and got married when I was 21 after meeting my wife on a blind date. We have 4 children and have been married for over 20 years! It's gone by fast. I like to camp and run for fun (really!). But my most favorite thing to do is go to Disneyland with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was just 3 years old so I was raised a Mormon. It has always served me well and made a real difference when I had to make difficult decisions in high school. When I was 19, I read the Book of Mormon for the first time (I know, kinda late in my life having been raised Mormon.). I remember praying and asking whether the Book of Mormon was true and If Joseph Smith was a prophet. I had always believed it was true but had never known spiritually. That night, as I prayed I felt a feeling of peace and happiness and expansion of my mind telling me it was true and I knew I had my answer. Since that time, I have found that whenever I pray, read the scriptures, or hear teachings from the scriptures I feel those same confirming feelings.

How I live my faith

For the past three years served as the Branch President for the Young Single Adults (ages 18-30). I really noticed a difference in my life and my families when I was less concerned with myself and instead busy serving others. Sometimes I would bring my family with me to the activites such as "slip and slide kickball" or "human battleship with waterballoons" or "ice cream making contest." It was an opportunity for my kids to see young adults having clean fun and it was a chance for the young adults to see how I act as a husband and father. Recently, I have the asignment to work with the 11-12 year old boys. We go camping and do service projects and learn how to act as the kind of men God want us to be. Every chance I get to serve teaches me something new.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

I think the main role of a husband is to protect and provide for his family. That means sometimes sacrificing what I want to do, for them. So even though I may not feel like going to work some days, I go because I know that what I do directly influences their lives. I also do my best to be there emotionally for my wife and kids when they need me. Don't get me wrong, my wife does a much better job than I do in being there emotionally for my children, but I try to listen and empathize as best as I can. My wife on the other hand is a great teacher in our family. That is one of her important roles, along with making the house run. Together, we make a great team. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

I believe the person we should have faith in above everyone and everything else is Jesus Christ. He is the one who came to Earth for us, because he loves us. To me, faith in the Savior means that we learn about him and try to do the things he would do if he were here. I may not be able to turn water into wine, but I can forgive another who has offended me, and I can love the children, and I can serve others. Show more Show less
