Hi I'm Jake

I'm a climber. I'm an artist. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love the outdoors hiking, fishing, biking, canoeing, and rock climbing. I am a college student working on a Chemistry degree. I spent 2 years in Argentina as a missionary and met incredible people there. My family is very important to me and I spend as much time with them possible.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members and I have been in the church since childhood. I am Mormon because I got baptized but I know its true because I went on a mission. I prayed to know if these things are true when life was hardest for me and I got a calm, reassuring answer. I have gotten reaffirmations of that answer throughout my life and can testify that through faith and patience can happen to anyone. I am Mormon now because its how I can find peace in this world and be with my family in the world to come.

How I live my faith

I taught and served for 2 years in Argentina. I now use those skills to teach faith and doctrine to the rising generation in classes in church. I also volunteer to teach Spanish speaking children how to read. I love to go to the temple and frequently serve there.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

If you want talk to me. I would love to answer any questions or doubts, add me on facebook and send me a message. Also, in nearly every city in the world their are missionaries and they would love to talk to you. You can find them in the street, in the churches on Sunday mornings, or through a member you know. Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

To serve a mission one must have the desire. My parents didn't force me to go on a mission, neither did the church. I wanted to teach the gospel and get to know people in a different land. I voluntarily left my family and paid to go to Argentina to teach what brings me joy. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

This is always the test. One must humble himself, throw aside all early prejudices and ask God in humble prayer. One must ask with faith in Christ, with true intent, and a sincere heart. If you pray and ask God will answer your prayer. Not always immediately, not always in the way you want. But He will answer and you won't be able to deny it. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written mainly by Mormon, hence the name. I was also written in part by his son, Moroni and Nephi and Jacob. They are all ancient prophets that lived in the Americas between 600 B.C. and 421 A.D. They wrote of their people, their lives, and their relation with God. It was not written by Joseph Smith, he translated it. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family is so important because it is the backbone of our religion. In the family one learns of the gospel and grows in the gospel. The home is sacred and is a protective environment for those inside. The bonds of a family, through the temple, can continue after death. We believe families can be together forever. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

The Bible was written by prophets, we believe that God called prophets and will continue to call them. He organized His church in Biblical times and wrote the record for us. The Bible testifies of Christ and the Spirit testifies of its truthfulness. Show more Show less
