Hi I'm Rickey

I love sports, playing my bass, and milkshakes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've played sports my entire life and soccer, basketball, and volleyball are my favorites. But I quit playing soccer my senior year of high school and I was able to do a lot of other things like HOSA and spending more time with my family before I head off into the world. (But I wish that I had spent even more time with them!) I play the bass (mostly upright but I can play some bass guitar). I Iove alternative music, some cover songs, and movie soundtracks. Instrumental arrangements of popular songs are great too! I love trying to become the best that I can be. It's hard to do sometimes but I know that there is no situation that should stop us from trying to be less than the best that we can be. I moved a few times as a little kid, then my parents divorced and my family has stayed in the same place ever since, and now I'm living in Ukraine! I know English, Ukrainian, and I pretend like I know Russian. I love our Savior Jesus Christ and I know that He loves us more than we can even imagine and this is why He came to Earth and died for us and, just as important, He LIVED for us.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe that my church's teachings, beliefs and practices are true. They're really the teachings of Jesus Christ. As I follow Christ and these teachings that I've learned, I feel peace and happiness. Following these things helps my life to be more complete. I'm not a Mormon just because someone told me to be one and it seemed fun. And I don't follow blindly. I'm a member of this Church out of the conviction of my heart and the witness from God, by the Holy Ghost, that it's Christ's church again on the Earth. God had removed His church from the earth after people killed and rejected the Apostles of Christ. I know that this church has the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it will help you come nearer to God than ever before. "By their fruits ye shall know them". Ask God and find out for yourself! :)

How I live my faith

I share what I believe with other people! If you have some really awesome news, what do you want to do with that news? You tell others! I live in Ukraine right now and tell people what I know and believe about Jesus Christ and His teachings. We also organize activities for people to come and have a good time in a great environment and to learn more about God and His plan for us. One of those activites is English practice. There are lots of people that live in Ukraine that know English really well! Every day I pray for an opportunity to help someone. Really touch someone. We need to be God's hands on Earth. We can help answer someone's prayer and I try my best to be ready to do this.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Rickey
This is one of my favorite doctrines of the Mormon church. Jesus Christ has already saved us by His grace and has given us the chance to change and live with our Heavenly Father forever. But it's up to us to take advantage of this gift. Christ has saved us, but if we don't do our best to follow the commandments of God, then we can't live with Him forever. We will still be resurrected and live forever, but it's your obedience and how hard you try to do your best that determine who you will live with (Heavenly Father, your family, and/or future family) and for how long (FOREVER). God wants honest effort. I can't go out and party 24/7, forget about my family, hurt other people and still be saved just because I believe that He lives. This is mocking the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He deserves our BEST efforts for what He did. I'm not perfect but I should try to follow Christ the best that I can and to live His true Gospel, which was given to the Earth again through a modern prophet, Joseph Smith. If I do this, God will do the rest and I can live with Him again. Show more Show less
