Hi I'm Ford Erickson

I play in a band, I go to college, I eat lots of tacos. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and I have been playing guitar or drums in progressive punk style bands for over twelve years. I have a passion for running and excercising. I love hiking and being in nature. I am a huge sports fan. I love graffiti style art, although I am not very good I love doing graffiti style sketches with markers and spraypaint. I love life and love being around people. This is starting to sound like a want ad for a guy searching for love. I think that is a sign that I should end now.

Why I am a Mormon

I have never found any belief system that promises so much. I love that everyone is challenged to find out FOR THEMSELVES that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. Anyone can know it. God will show you if you are sincere, just as He did with me. The Book of Mormon is tangible, physical evidence that everything this church teaches is true. God has spoken to me countless times through that book, just as He speaks to me through the Bible. There is nothing on earth that could change my mind about the Book of Mormon, because God himself has told me countless times that it is true. I am willing give that testimony to anyone, anywhere. Because the Book of Mormon is true I know that God is real and loving and is our Father. I know that all the stories in the Bible are true. I know that Jesus Christ really is the Savior of the world. I know that God has set up His church with apostles and prophets just like He did anciently. Most of all I know that through Jesus Christ's sacrifice I can be with my family for all eternity. I know that our purpose here on earth is to learn and gain experience to become like our Heavenly Father. It just makes so much sense to me logically, but has also been confirmed to me over and over and over by the power of God.

How I live my faith

The first thing I do every morning when I wake up is pray. My prayers are not perfect, but I try to be sincere and not repetitive. I talk to God just like I talk to my Dad. I have found when I try to focus my prayers on others and ask for opportunities to help people that come to my mind, the opportunities come, and I feel a deep sense of satisfaction and joy that can only come by living the way Christ lived, which was selfless and submissive to God's purposes for Him. I would like to reiterate that my prayers are not perfect, and sometimes I find myself waking up from a nap that began as a prayer, or I find myself daydreaming about weird things like dragons or Shaquille O'neal when I am supposed to be praying. Shortly after my morning prayer, I have my morning scripture study. Scripture study hasn't always been a daily thing for me. I used to think it was boring. And to be honest, it is boring UNLESS you have the Holy Spirit with you while you study. I find that I keep the Holy Spirit with me when I pray as much as possible, and try to remember God as much as possible. The the Holy Spirit is with me when I study the scriptures it is incredible. It teaches me things that aren't written on the pages about myself, God, Christ, purpose of life, gives me answers to things I am struggling with, or simply gives me a deep sense of peace and satisfaction that I have never found anywhere else.
