Hi I'm Xathena

I'm a breast cancer survivor living in Cajun country Louisiana and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was inactive for over 20 years and have never been able to find the peace and contentment I have wanted until I came back to church. Breast Cancer didn't bring me back but it was a push in the right direction. "I once was lost and now I'm found", I stand strong in my belief that all things are possible and peace is only a prayer away.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I knew that there is a larger purpose for my life and simply being on the earth is not enough. For over 20 years I simply staggered through my life existing and not living. I knew something was missing. I remembered a foundation that was laid in my youth by a loving and caring Aunt. I touched the outside wall of the Salt Lake Temple and felt peace and a calm I've not felt in two decades (more than a thousand Sunday's). I am not alone, God loves me and it is time to make my way home. One person opened the way to my renewal of faith and the joy of membership, my Home Teacher and friend. I am active and trying to touch the lives of people who are trying to come back, I serve as a ward missionary passing on as best I know how, the love and kindness shown to me. I testify the Jesus Christ is the Living Christ, my Savior and Redeemer. I testify that my return is an example of one member loving me enough as to not give up on me. All things are possible through Christ and I have a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior as long as I live righteously.

How I live my faith

I am human with human faults, but I strive diligently to live as an example of what is possible when true and loving change is made. Called to be a ward missionary I am more aware of the example I have to set for friends and family. I do the best I can to be kind, caring and compassionate. Serving is a privilege and its only while helping another human being am I truly outside of my self and in peace. I lay my head down at night feeling that I have contributed to a great purpose in God's Eternal Kingdom.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

I believe that it is through the Atoning Grace of Jesus Christ that I can repent and be apart of God's Eternal Plan. I have to do my part and own my responsibilities; that I keep His commandments. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

I know there is a God when I look at the strength of the mountains and feel the heart beat of a humming bird. When I watch babies sleep or laugh, or see the sun break through the clouds. I know there is a God when I feel peace and see another human being reaching out to help. I know there is a God when I kneel down to prayer and feel the presence of my Heavenly Father when I am earnestly seeking answers and guidance. I know there is a God, because I am a daughter of God. What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

A Mormon lifestyle is simple, I stay away from things that harm my body, mind and spirit. I live just like anyone else, I love movies, music and an occasional football game. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in “eternal life?”

Eternal life is a blessing not a right. I can think of no better reward than to live with my family in a blessed eternal life, providing I do what I am asked by Jesus Christ, "If you love me follow my commandments." Show more Show less
