Hi I'm Kris

I grew up in North Carolina, Texas, and North Dakota, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a single woman in my 50's, never married. My father's job caused us to move several times during my growing up years. I have lived on the US-Mexico border, and 17 miles from the Canadian border, as well as in the southern US. I love to read, watch movies with friends, and animals. I currently have two cats and a cockatiel. I studied accounting and Spanish in college, and worked 20+ years in the accounting field.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - I am a Mormon! I joined the Church almost 34 years ago. Before my baptism, I attended meetings with a friend who was already a member. I met a lot of the other ward members, and enjoyed it. I also saw how faithfully and sincerely they lived their religion. After I was baptized, I learned more about Jesus Christ and His love for me. Through trials and other issues in my life, my faith in Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, and their love and awareness of me, have been central to my capacity to endure and grow spiritually and emotionally. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. It testifies of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The Church was restored in these latter days, and I know that Joseph Smith was the true prophet of the Restoration. There are prophets and apostles on the earth today, just as in New Testament times. We are led by a living prophet of the living God.

How I live my faith

I am a den leader for Wolf Cub Scouts, 8-year old boys. We are learning new things and having fun each week! I recently taught a class of 5-6 year old children about the basic beliefs of our faith. I love children, teaching and interacting with them. I have also served in other roles with adult women, and young women.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon means that I follow Jesus Christ, and that I'm trying to serve Him and my brothers and sisters. It means that I know that my Heavenly Father knows and loves me, and I want to live with Him again some day. Being a Mormon is fun! Associating with other member is like having an instant, large family. Family is important to us and to me specifically. We care for and about each other Show more Show less
