Hi I'm David Burt

I grew up in Southern California where I joined the Church. I am fluent in ASL, love genealogy. and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I am David and I am a convert to the Church. I grew up in Southern California where I learn ASL (American Sign Language) while attending Golden West College in Huntington Beach. I have a true testimony of the Book of Mormon and have been blessed to read it many time. I have served 3 part time missions at the Family History Library.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I feel with my whole soul the truth that comes from living prophets. I believe the Apostle Paul where he said: "And now we are no longer strangers or foreigners but fellow citizens with the Saints and of the household of God built upon the foundation of Apostles and Prophets with Jesus Christ himself being the Chief cornerstone." As it was in the ancient church, so is it today. I am a Mormon because that same organization put together by the Savior, exists now as it did when he organized his church.

How I live my faith

As I have researched my family tree I have found many interesting stories that have touched my heart. I have helped many people in my Stake learn how to do their own family tree research. We all have fun stories about our ancestors. I have found some of them serving in the Civil War, the War of 1812 and even the Revolutionary War. It was fun to find out that one of my ancestors was an interpreter for George Washington. I have cried as I have read other accounts, like the one of my 2nd great grand father and the hardships he endured as a POW in the Civil War being imprisoned at Andersonville. In doing my genealogy research, I have found over 15,000 of these ancestors and been able to send their names to the Temple so they themselves could be baptized and choose for themselves if the wanted to except the work done in their behalf. I have also found old pictures of my family. It has been fun to see where I got my brown hair and so forth.

What is the Book of Mormon?

David Burt
The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ really lived. As I have studied it, my testimony has grown and the Savior has become my best friend. By reading the testimonies of prophets of the Book of Mormon my understanding of his ways has become a source of strength to help me become more like him and guided me in the ways I should go.
