Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in Orange County, CA. I play college baseball, and want to be a doctor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to Orange Coast College. Im a member of the baseball team there. I love playing sports, going to movies and going to beach. One of the best things that I have done in my life is go on a church mission to Panama. Along with baseball, I also work at a country club golf course and am studying to become a sports medicine doctor. I love my family, going to church, and going to lake powell in the summer.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ because it makes me a better person. I want to one day live with God again and my family. Through the church and the gospel of Jesus Christ I have found out how it is possible and how I can do that. As I live by the standards and the commandments found in the scriptures I feel closer to God and our Savior Jesus Christ. I was born into a Mormon family and raised in the church, but I had to find out for myself if it was true or not. I remember my junior year of high school I was going through a pretty tough time in my life. I was getting recruited to go play baseball at some Div 1 colleges and then I hurt my back and had to have back surgery. This was extremely tough for me at first because it felt like my dream of playing baseball was being taken from me. As this happened my faith was a little weakened and I was struggling to stay positive and motivated to keep going to church. Luckily I have a great family, friends, and at the time had some great positive influences from church around me. I was challenged at this time to read the Book of Mormon from start to finish. As I read the Book of Mormon my faith and belief in Jesus Christ grew. I knew I could overcome the challenges that I face in life and that I wouldnt be alone. The once weakened faith that I had became stronger and a stepping stone to where I am now in my life. I am greatful that Heavenly Father loves us and hears our prayers. I know he lives and that wants us to be happy in this life. As I read the Book of Mormon I also prayed to find out if it was true. As I did I felt at peace and just knew it came from God.

How I live my faith

I work with the full time missionaries serving in our area on a weekly basis. We go out and teach and visit those who are learning about the Mormon church as well as visit those who are already members. I also am assigned to visit and look after twelve single members of our congregation. I visit with them and check to see if there is anything I can do to help them in any way in their lives. Personally I try to live my faith by example, and by being as Christ like as possible. I try to be possitive and uplifting as well as being kind and helpful to others.

Are Mormons Christians?

Matt
This is a question that I get asked a lot by my friends and those I know. Mormons, or members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are Christians. We talk of Christ, we preach of Christ, and we try to live in every way by his teachings. As you come to learn and see the way that we live our lives, and have faith in our Savior Jesus Christ I think it is easy to see and say that we are Christian. We believe that Christ is the head of this Church, and that through the prophet Joseph Smith, that Christ's church has been restored to the earth once again. Just like when Christ was on the earth, there are prophets and apostles leading and guiding us today, and the power of God (the priesthood) is once again on the earth so that we can be authorized to act in His name today.
