Hi I'm Kasey

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a Mormon family with 4 siblings. All growing up, we loved the outdoors as a family. We like to ski, bike, rock climb, hike, backpack and camp as a family. I am now newly married, and am pursuing a career in Public Accounting. I learned much about the world as a missionary in the Czech Republic. For two years I spoke with many atheists, Muslims, Jews, other Christians, and people from all walks of life about how to find truth. I love to share what I know to be true with all people.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was taught the principles of our faith growing up, there comes a point in everyone's life when they need to find out for themselves what they believe. I didn't want to spend all of my money to go on a mission for two years to talk to people about something I didn't know to be true. When I was in my teenage years, I decided to sincerely try for myself to find out if it was true. Following a promise from a prophet in the Book of Mormon, I read the book alone, and prayed to God to know if it was true. Although there were no visions or angels, I felt in my heart that the book is true, and the Church divine. I have had that feeling confirmed many times since.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by acting as Jesus Christ would, and serving others in the Church. We believe in daily prayer and scripture study to draw closer to God.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Kasey
Many atheists I have spoken with don't believe in God because of the bad things they witnessed (Holocaust, poverty, abuse, etc.). The restored teachings of Jesus Christ show us that the purpose of life is to learn and grow so that we can become like our Heavenly Father (God) is. God has given us the wonderful gift of freedom of choice, and with that, sometimes we make mistakes. Sometimes our mistakes hurt others. But freedom of choice is so necessary to our learning, that he does not take it away. Just as my father knew that overcoming difficult situations brought growth and learning (like when he would take us to the top of a difficult ski run), our Heavenly Father also knows that, and wants to help us. Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Kasey
The Bible shows us a pattern that God developed in order to communicate with his children - aside from speaking with us personally through prayer, He sends prophets to teach us His message. Adam, Noah, and Moses were all examples. Jesus even organized a church with apostles (prophets) to continue this pattern. Peter was the head of the church for a time, until eventually the prophets were killed and Christ's church was fragmented. Many different people taught different things, even in regards to the Bible. However, God followed His pattern for revealing truth and chose another prophet, Joseph Smith, to restore Christ's church. Apostles lead the church again today. Show more Show less
