Hi I'm Angela

I'm a student. I'm a mom. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a stay at home mom of two and just finished up an associates degree in hopes of gaining a bachelors degree when my husband finishes school. I love movies and find myself discussing movies with friends and family a lot. I used to be a culinary major until I got pregnant with my son, and decided that I didn't want to work in a restaurant while trying to have a family. I really enjoy writing about food and will most likely utilize my culinary experience that way.I've been married for about four years to my best friend and couldn't be more happy.

Why I am a Mormon

Well I was born and raised in the church but I honestly feel like I didn't truly gain a testimony until I was older. I had the convenience of having active parents but I found that I was one of those people that needed to find things out my way, or in other words, the hard way. I definitely feel like I've chosen to be a member of the church. I've had many opportunities to walk away and I can say now that I know I am way happier than I would have been. The Church has so much to offer. To me, I chose to stay with this gospel because it requires me to prove myself worthy to return to my Heavenly Father. I know I'm not perfect and I know I can't attain perfection here, but I do know I can do my best and that I have a goal to accomplish. I'm not the kind of person that is complacent with just existing, I feel that I am meant for something more in this world and that Heavenly Father and the fullness of his gospel will help me become accomplished. I'm so grateful for this Church not only because it gives me a sense of community but because it teaches that we are here on this earth for a reason. Not just to dwell with God but to work towards something greater. I am not the type of person to be satisfied with the thought that Heavenly Father sent us here just to return to Him and simply "dwell" with him. He has work and a purpose for us. For me. And I'm thankful that I have that knowledge.

How I live my faith

I am currently teaching the five year old children at church. I thoroughly enjoy my calling because their innocence is a humble reminder to be more child like. I know I don't know everything but I feel that each calling I fulfill, I learn a little more about myself and the gospel.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

We're as normal as anyone I suppose. I feel like there are so many personalities of women in our church that there is no way we are all "cookie cutter women". I definitely feel like I'm treated as equal as men are. They have the utmost respect for women and talk about how important we are often. I know that some people believe that can't be possible because I can't receive the priesthood, but as I understand it, I don't feel like as a women, that's my purpose here. Heavenly Father didn't mean for me to have it and that is good enough for me. Show more Show less
