Hi I'm Joshua

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Geneva IL, but when I was 12 my family moved to Laie Hawaii. I grew up on the beach and in the ocean. I loved being underwater. You experience something never felt before. The ocean is so beautiful and powerful. I served a mission the the Manila Philippines Mission from 2005-2007. A year later I was sealed to my beautiful wife on December 27, 2008 in the Laie Hawaii Temple. That day there was an island wide blackout. The temple thus was running on generators and lanterns and candles were used as the main light source. Our candlelight sealing was very romantic :) I attended school in Hawaii studying math but transferred to Utah to study architecture. I will graduate with a B.S. Arch next summer!!!! Finally!!! After that I will attend graduate school. Upon completion of graduate school my wife an I want to return to Hawaii to live and work, and be with our families.

Why I am a Mormon

At times I wonder why. But that thought is very very quickly answered. I have felt the testifying spirit in my life about this Church and its doctrine. My life is a living testimony of its truthfulness. I view life and its many challenges differently because of the Church. Whenever I ponder the scriptures, the Church leaders, and other Church topics I feel the spirit. Nobody can take that away from me. I know it is true. I have felt it many times. The promise is true, do good and you will be blessed.

How I live my faith

I have to live my faith everyday. It comes down to how I treat my wife and those around me. it comes down to how I think about others and what I say to them. It comes down to my actions and attending church services. How I prepare lessons I give to young kids in church. It comes down to how I follow the spirit as I interact with others.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

I now have a vast knowledge of my Savior Jesus Christ and of God our Father in Heaven. I know better His plan for me and my family. I know what I need to do to be happy. I know the value of people and of treating others with kindness. I know the power of love. I know where to look for help and guidance in my life. I know what path to take when decisions and challenges arise in my life. The scriptures have help me more than I could say or type on this site. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

I believe the Bible because it is the word of God. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

I don't do the things listed above because I have more freedom living without it. I am healthier and can act and do more than I could with those things in my body. I also obey the Church's law of health to be smart with what enters my body because a prophet of God declared it unto me through scripture and the spoken word. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

The message missionaries have is for everyone. People do not have to listen but since it is about the restored church of the living Christ, each person, each child of God, needs to hear it. I know that God loves each one of us, thus he has a message, a plan for each one of us that can be shared to us by the missionaries. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

YES! Man what a blessing it is to have a constant pillar of strength to rely on. It seems like today everyone shifts views, changes belies and personal values too quickly. But having a prophet who I firmly believe receives revelation from God is very comforting to me. I know whom to look for guidance, I know when he speaks I probably should be listening and applying what he says. God knows what he is doing, the prophet today has complete faith and trust in Gods plan. He is Gods servant on the earth today, he is God's mouthpiece. It is a big test of faith to listen, follow and believe someone you never have met. But if you experimenter on what he says your life will become that much better and you will be happy. What is the Book of Mormon?

The book of Mormon solidifies my belief in Jesus Christ. With so many varying beliefs out there its hard to distinguish truth from myth. This book is truly amazing. Its correlation with the bible and historical events are amazing. I cant imagine anyone, especially Joseph Smith just making it up on a whim. My day goes a lot better when I read even a few passages from the Book of Mormon. I know its true. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

I recently had a son who was born premature. Months sent in the hospital with my wife was very intense. Now being home I look at him as something very precious and dear to me. I do not want to be away from the little guy. The same goes for after death. I believe that families can be together forever, if they do the proper things in this life first. I want to be with my family. We love each other, and support each other and teach each other. Having that strength is very important in my life! Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Tithing helps the church grow. I believe in this church and am ok with helping it grow and help others. 10% at time while still a student and young family, seems like a lot. But trust me, God helps you out tremendously. You show faith, you receive help and blessings. Show more Show less
