Hi I'm Aaron

I grew up in Houston. I'm a college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a single student on deferment from college. I enjoy writing about anything and everything. I love to read and learn. I like to study history and science. I'm an eagle scout. I enjoy camping and playing sports. I was called to serve a mission for the church, but had to return from my assignment in Peru to the states for medical reasons.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the church for my entire life, but that does not mean I've gone without questions. Life is full of them, but answers can be found. I've come to learn and accept for myself the things my parents have taught me since I was a child. I've put my testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel to the test, and I can tell everyone with a sure knowledge that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. His gospel is again on the earth, with modern day Prophets and apostles to lead and guide us. I have felt first-hand the power of his Priesthood in my life to heal and bless me spiritually and physically. I've read the Book of Mormon and can testify of its validity and power. Nothing else brings me closer to Christ. I also have a strong testimony of the Holy Bible which testifies of Christ and His earthly ministry. These two books have changed my life for the better and convince me of the truthfulness of the gospel more than any one person ever could. I know that Jesus Christ lives and loves us.

How I live my faith

I work at a special food bank, also called the "Bishop's Storehouse." This storehouse provides food to hundreds of individuals in the communities of Lincoln, Omaha, Grand Island, Hastings,(Nebraska) Des Moines, Ames (Iowa) and Souix City (South Dakota). We give out food goods from all across the states sent to Salt Lake City and shipped to us for distribution. We have no paid employees, but an army of volunteers to help. Each volunteer I meet reports a strong feeling of fulfillment and joy in serving others. We have volunteers and needy individuals of all ages, races and religions. It is a pleasure to serve and meet with every one of them.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Aaron
The purpose of the Church welfare service is to care for others as Christ would do if He were here. We wish to help others feel needed and cared for. We promote self-reliance and hard work to earn and feel self accomplishment. I think of the church welfare service as just another way the church can help us to improve and strengthen ourselves.
