Hi I'm Hiraina

I'm a Mormon. Learn it! Live it!Love it!

About Me

I am from New Zealand and of Maori descent. I have 5 sisters, 4 brothers and 1 deceased brother. I am married and have 3 children. My interests are kapa haka, music, heavy machinery and martial arts. I enjoy being with my family and also my extended family, which are many.

Why I am a Mormon

I needed to become a Mormon. I needed the safety of the gospel and the feelings of being comforted and lead out of the darkness. My soul lacked security and when this was happening to me, I grasped at the opportunity and never wanted to let it go. My husband had been also convinced that this was the way we were to go. We were married and baptised in Flaxmere, Hastings, New Zealand on 2 April 2005. I know that by entering through the gate of the kingdom on that day, my Heavenly Father and my Saviour, Jesus Christ were smiling down at me. I know that I made the right decision. I love Them and I know They love me!!!!

How I live my faith

By honouring and living the covenants I have made shows my commitment to my God. I teach my children the treasured truths that are made known to me through pray, diligent scripture study and the teachings from the spirit. I continually try to purify myself by repenting and acknowledging the Lord's hand in everything. I assist my husband in his calling as Bishop, by being there when he needs my counsel, help or just to lend him an ear. I serve in the primary presidency. The children's ages range from 18 months to 12 years. I serve as a counsellor and help the president run the programs that are set by the church.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Prophet Joseph Smith said: "I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." Show more Show less
