Hi I'm Shawn

I'm a teacher. I travel the world. I make people smile. Just so happens I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wonderful parents raised me to believe that dreams come true and that life is meant to be lived to the fullest. Needless to say, I enjoy a little adventure in my life. I've lived in Russia for two years, Mexico for one year, and I somehow found some time to backpack Europe. I recently graduated from college with my undergraduate degree in Russian. I also studied Spanish and Arabic. Friends often assume that I love languages. The truth is that I love people. It just so happens that language is the key to understanding, the key to storytelling, and the key to relationships. My next big adventure takes the form of teaching Spanish in a high school and working on my masters degree in urban education. I enjoy the outdoors, rock climbing, biking, and traveling. I believe that every day something happens to each of us that is worth smiling about.

Why I am a Mormon

Not only does this church have an amazing structure and community, it also has the tools that I need to build a relationship with my Heavenly Father. The most important relationship that I have in my life is the one that I have built with Him. The principles and ordinances in the LDS church have provided me with the knowledge and the path to return to God and to create a friendship with him right now. I am a Mormon because I need healing and the church provides the framework for change. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy and gives me peace.

How I live my faith

I love to serve others. I visit friends on a regular basis and share how the gospel is blessing my life. Sharing the gospel with those who don't know about it is also a huge blessing. I want everyone to know about how Jesus Christ can empathize, understand, and heal. In the church I have given talks during sacrament meeting, taught Sunday school lessons, and helped prepare and pass the sacrament. I live my faith by lending my heart and hands to those around me.
