Hi I'm Scott Messer

I grew up in Utah, got a BS in Civil Engr, a PhD from VA Tech in Aerospace Engineering, and Now work in Aerospace, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of 4 and enjoy spending time with my kids and wife. I enjoy water-skiing, coaching youth soccer and baseball, as well as home improvements. I work full-time in the Aerospace business and enjoy the challenge

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints (a Mormon) because God answered my prayers and told me this was his church. While I grew up in the Mormon church, there came a time when I had to know for myself if the church and what it taught was true or not. Because of the logical way I think and process data believing in spiritual things was not always easy. However, I also knew that I had to find out for myself if what I had been taught by my parents was true or not. To this end, I read and studied the Book of Mormon, and prayed to God to know of if was true or not. Over time, God answered my prayers and I came to know the Book of Mormon was true. I say "over time" because I was very careful not to let my own emotions influence my answer to prayer. I wanted to make sure I did not answer my own prayer, but rather actually got an answer from Heavenly Father. I can testify with assurity, that God did indeed answer my prayers and I know as sure as I know the sun will rise tomorrow, that the book of Mormon is true. I have been through the same process to know that Joseph Smith was a true and real prophet, and that the Thomas S. Monson is Gods Prophet today. I guess you could say I'm kind of a hard heard, but I wanted to know for myself, not just believe someone else.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by providing service to others as Jesus did as well as living all the other commandment. I tend to be very committed to whatever I do, so after my prayers were answered, the only thing left to do my best to live as Jesus would have me live. Over the years I have served my community as a coach for youth sports, as well as working with the Boy Scouts of America and the boys youth program of the church. I am an Eagle Scout and love to help the boys of today work toward that same goal. Even though I do my best to live as Christ would have me live, I make plenty of mistakes so I spend a good share of time repenting and trying to do better. I'm very grateful for the atonement of Christ which allows me to return to heavenly father.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Scott Messer
Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son-of-God, and our Elder Brother in a spiritual sense, and he loves us more that we can ever know. We believe he was the only perfect being to ever live and thus was able to atone for the sins of all man kind which allows us to be forgive for our sins/mistakes and return to live with Heavenly Father after we die. Without Christ's atonement, we would be unable to return to our Heavenly Father. We also believe that not only must we know "about" Jesus Christ, we must actually "know" Jesus Christ. This personal relationship between Christ and each of us is obtained by coming to know him through a study of the Scriptures, as well as seeking for and following the guidance he gives us on a daily basis. I love Jesus Christ and I'm working to be closer to him every day. His love is beautiful, powerful and fulfilling, and has sustained me during rough time and lifted me higher during good times. I love him and I know that he loves me. Show more Show less
