Hi I'm James

I am a social media director who owns his own company. I am Christian and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Although I grew up in Utah and was baptized at the age of 8, my conversion to the gospel came much later in life. At the age of 39, a pair of sister missionaries from Temple Square challenged me to read the Book of Mormon - a book I had read from at certain points of my life, but a book I had never *read*. The more I read, the more it started to make sense to me that the book could not have come from a 14 year old boy's imagination. I developed an intellectual testimony of the logic of the Book of Mormon. As I continued reading it over and over, that intellectual testimony began growing into a testimony of a completely different depth. The Spirit, the Holy Ghost began testifying to me that it was more than logic. I began to believe and then know by that same Spirit, that the book was written by real people who lived hundreds of years ago. I began to know that these writers were prophets, men called of God for a very special work. As I continued praying, studying and pondering this powerful book, the Spirit continued testifying to me, teaching me and He, the Holy Ghost soon became a constant companion to me. I am so grateful for those sisters and for all those called of God who participated in the writing of, the translation of and the bringing forth of the Book of Mormon. I am now an LDS writer. I have not been published yet, but I love writing from my heart. I have written "Surrendering to Christ - Finding Your Way Back Home", "Captained by Christ" and "Embraced by Christ". I am also currently writing an LDS novel titled "The Pact".

Why I am a Mormon

I believe God has a plan and a purpose for each of us. My road led me down the path of a hard life, until I discovered the gospel because of a pair of very kind, dedicated sister missionaries on Temple Square. I am a Mormon because I truly believe God lives and has restored the gospel of Jesus Christ in these days. The Spirit - the Holy Ghost - has testified of this to me, personally, many, many times. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith more than just on weekends or sacred holidays like Easter and Christmas. First and foremost, I try to be a Christian (which Mormons are), and try to help others in small and simple ways.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Everyone can qualify themselves to enter our sacred temples. Those who are willing to live their lives in a clean and Christlike manner are invited to partake of these incredible blessings. Yes, it requires faith in the Lord, dedication, a commitment to virtue and chastity as well as full tithe paying and other obligations, but believe me - it is so worth it. Let the Lord help you be worthy and come join in the most sacred blessings He has to offer His children. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

We believe that this life is only a continuation of the life before, where we lived with God, the Father of our spirits, and His Firstborn Son, Jesus Christ. We also believe that life continues after our mortal death, that death is nothing more than slipping back through the veil into the Spirit World. We also believe the Spirit World is divided into two parts or areas. The righteous (which I do not believe includes only Mormons - but good people from all faiths and backgrounds) dwell in a place called Paradise. The wicked (those who consciously rebel against God and man) go to a place called the Spirit Prison. Others who go to the Spirit Prison are those who know not God nor His gospel, but will have the opportunity to have the gospel preached to them by authorized messengers from Paradise.
