Hi I'm Alicia

I grew up in Arizona. I'm a runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young single adult. I'm working at a physical therapy office as a tech, and I am currently attending a community college. I love active activities, such as running, hiking, kayaking, hunting, and camping (just to name a few!). I also play the violin and love to sing in choirs.

Why I am a Mormon

I am very blessed to have grown up in the Church. My entire family is LDS, including all extended family. What an awesome thing! I am a Mormon because I know this Church is true. It's that plain and simple. The Gospel is such an all encompassing yet fairly simple thing, and living this Gospel has made my life so much fuller and frankly, easier. i don't have to worry about what happens after I die, because I know that families are eternal and that our Heavenly Father only wants us back with him. All of us! I love being a Mormon, because I don't have to live in uncertainty.

How I live my faith

I am a member of a single's ward, which is made up of women and men 18-31 years old. In a single's ward there is always activities going on and service projects to be done, and it is so fun, especially when it's all people your age. I also do the basics- attend church every Sunday, read my scriptures, pray, serve others, ect. I also don't drink, smoke, do drugs, watch bad movies (all R and most PG-13), go to inappropriate parties, use dirty language, or have sex before marriage. This may seem like "restrictions", but in reality, who needs all of these things to have a good life? I find life to be easier and actually more fun without all of these distractions and hardships. I also live my faith by sharing my musical talents with my community through orchestras and choirs. Music is a great way to feel the Spirit.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Alicia
Well, this is great start! Mormon.org contains so much information about our Church. You can also go the visitor's center at any Temple, or simply go to any church meetinghouse on a Sunday and speak with the members. Visitors are always welcome at Sunday services. You can get into contact with the missionaries at both of these places, and they can teach you more about our Church and what we believe. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Alicia
We absolutely do. Just because we have another book of scripture, The Book of Mormon (which is simply another testament of Jesus Christ) does not mean that we do not use the Bible. The Bible teaches about Christ, so, as Christians, why wouldn't we read it? The Bible contains so many wonderful scriptures about forgiveness, repentance, love, compassion, and other spiritual things. The Book of Mormon and the Bible go hand in hand. Show more Show less
