Hi I'm J Kent

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college graduate with a post graduate degree. I have been involved in the educational profession for 30 plus years, teaching both high school and college students throughout the United States, from Utah and Arizona all the way to the East Coast and back to Southern California. I love being with my family, gardening and golfing. I am the father of six wonderfully successful children whom are all married and enjoy watching our posterity grow year after year. I currently have sixteen grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I read with interest the Book of Mormon for the first time when I was 15 years old and asked in prayed if the book was true. Not knowing a whole lot about the process of how God communicates with man but having faith that if those who's accounts are recorded in scripture could have such experiences then why not I, I asked. The profound truth of the Book of Mormon and the answer that I received changed my life and continues to do so. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and can lead an individual to know who they are and what their true relationship with God is. He is our Father in Heaven. Because I know the Book of Mormon is true I also know that God has authorized prophets once again to administer His truths to all mankind. There is a living prophet on the earth and I know that to be true.

How I live my faith

Since my conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ (Mormonism) I have made living my faith my life. We live the teachings of Christ in our home, in the community, and wherever we are. We truly try to be modern disciples of Jesus Christ in all we do. I have served three times as a Bishop in our local congregations, once in Utah, Michigan and Los Angeles, California. It has been my opportunity to serve in other bishoprics as a counselor four additional times. As a nineteen year old I served a full-time mission to the Arizona Tempe Mission. Now in my later years my wife and I have been recently called as full-time missionaries to serve for 23 months in Quezon City, Philippines. We are thrilled to serve in this manner and look forward to that in just a couple of months. My volunteer callings throughout the years seems to have been focused with serving the youth in some form or another.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Another testiment of Jesus Christ which includes an account of His ministry follwing His resurrection to the peoples who lived in the America's anciently. It does not replace the Bible but adds a second witness that Jesus Christ is indeed the Son of God. Show more Show less
