Hi I'm Amy

I am serving as a missionary in the Colorado Denver North Mission. Attitude is everything. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Born and raised in California, I am the second oldest of five kids. I recently graduated with an A.S. in Recreation Management. I love everything about the outdoors. I love Colorado sun sets, camping, horse back riding, repelling, hiking, tubing, swimming, exploring, mud fights, spelunking, and dogs. I love to draw, paint, create, read, and go on walks with my twin brothers. I love to learn, and I love life. I wouldn't trade a second of it for anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints because I know it is true. I was raised in the church as well as my parents and siblings. If I was not a member of the church, I wouldn't have had a terrible life, but I know it would have been so much more difficult without its morals and teachings. I love being a member of this church because I know it is the full and complete gospel of Jesus Christ that he organized when he was on the earth. The church has shaped my life in so many ways. I live off of the knowledge and wisdom of the leaders in the church. I know I chose to come to the earth to be redeemed of sin, endowed with power, and qualify for exaltation. I thought I knew who the Savior was. I thought I knew what my family meant to me. Then, I went on a mission.

How I live my faith

I LOVE to share what I believe with everyone around me.The feeling I get when I immerse myself in the scriptures and doctrine is better than anything. I get excited when people ask me questions because I love to share with others the things I live for. I am currently on an 18 month mission in the Colorado Denver North Mission. Setting aside my "normal" life has opened my eyes to the true importance of this gospel. My desire is to share that with everyone! The work is hastening and I am privileged to be in the middle of it all! Nothing can stop the work from progressing!

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Amy
We have been given what is called the Word of Wisdom. Through the Word of Wisdom we are taught not to use tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, and illegal drugs. One reason is because they are harmful to our bodies and it limits our physical, mental, and spiritual progress. We believe in free agency, or the freedom and ability to choose right or wrong. These harmful substances restrict our ability to use our agency. It is important to be respectful to your sacred body that was lent to you by our Father in heaven. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Amy
In the days after Jesus was crucified and resurrected, the apostles went to teach his word among the people. As they were driven out and killed, the members of the church tried to keep things going. They were trying the best they could but without a Prophet or Apostles to lead and guide them, gospel principles were changed over time and they lost the real meaning and it all fell apart. This is known as the Great Apostasy. For years after that, people picked up different parts of the gospel that appealed to them and organized it as their own church. Most churches have truth to them, but not the WHOLE truth. When Joseph Smith sought an answer to know which church to join, the answer he was given was to join none of them because none of them had the whole truth. Through Joseph Smith, Jesus restored the church. Show more Show less
