Hi I'm Ethan.

I'm a college student. I'm nutritional science. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a college student working on my bachelor's in nutritional science, and I'm planning on being a college professor. I'm interested in a ton of different things, though. I actually started out as a chemistry major, then I decided on food science. Buuuut I wanted to do something that was more service-oriented than working at a food company, so I switched my major again to dietetics, and then I decided to be a professor, so I switched to nutritional science. I hope to teach everyone be healthy and get the most out of mortality!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon--a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--because I have sought and found. To be a member of this Church, you have to have a testimony--a firm belief--that it's true. How did I get that? Well, we're counselled to pray and seek spiritual truth as revealed by the Holy Ghost. I prayed to know if this Church is true, if the Book of Mormon is true, if Joseph Smith was a prophet--all of that. And now I know it is, because of the Spirit. As it says in Galatians 5, the fruits of the Spirit are good feelings we have. God makes us feel good through His Spirit when something is true and good. As scripture states, "signs follow the believers." When we trust the answer that this is true that we feel within ourselves, and act on it, then God gives us more. We have more surety, we have more blessings, we have more answers--we have more meaning in life. It's great! I'm Mormon because I know that only on this path will I return to our Father. I know that this Church is the same Church that Christ established when He was on the Earth. That Church was lost, but now it's found. God restored that Church through a modern-day prophet--someone with a lot of faith that God uses to direct His Church here on the Earth. I am a Mormon because God wants me to be.

How I live my faith

Some people say that your college years are the most selfish years of your life, since you're working and learning to prepare yourself for your career, and honestly young adults nowadays can easily lose sight of what's really important. I try to defy that through service and God. I know the dangers of getting too caught up in myself and my own needs: one day I'll look back and realize that I've done nothing for others—that my life didn't positively affect any life but my own. I'm terrified of that. I want to live in such a way that people will be better off for having known me. I pray that God can use me, and that others who cross my path can feel His love for them through my actions. This is how I live my faith. I volunteer as a tutor and as a leader in my university's tutoring program. I visit different members of my congregation to help and uplift them. I try to take advantage of any opportunity for service that I come across. I teach people how to do their family history research. I actively participate in church meetings and I go to the temple. I try to love others just as Jesus loves me.
