Hi I'm Andrew

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a young Dad and aspiring businessman. I work at an exciting software company and each night I come home to a beautiful wife and two sons. My life centers around my young family. Together we love traveling, playing board games, taking road trips, camping out, playing sports, and much much more. Basically, we love adventures. I have already lived in 3 countries (USA, Mexico, and Canada) and hope to see that list continue to grow in the future. My favorite hobby is basketball - I play several times a week in various leagues and with friends. I love to read biographies. There is something that intrigues me about the life of great people from history. I also love technology and have been an Apple geek for a long time - I was one of very few people with an Apple iBook back when I was a freshman in college. I am also passionate about running. I actually enjoy bundling up to run a 5k during a snowstorm.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because God really does answer prayers. In my life, there are so many distractions but I've found over and over again that if I focus on doing what I know is right, pray sincerely, and expect that God will respond, He does! He really does. One of the many prayers that God has answered for me came to me while I was in high school. It was a difficult time in my life. I had always felt good while attending church; but I had my doubts. My father had recently died and I wanted more than ever to receive answers to my prayers. I can tell you, as I think back on the marvelous experience I had, that God answered my prayers and revealed to me without question that Jesus Christ has a Church on the earth, led by a living prophet and this is it: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have also taken part in similar experiences for friends and acquaintances of mine. One of my dearest friends from high school had moved to Utah from Russia. He was an atheist but we frequently talked about the purpose of life and how we felt that we had known each other before. Over time, he had several special experiences that helped convince him that God lives. So for several years he practiced Judaism - the religion of his family. Eventually, however, he had the opportunity to read the Book of Mormon. Through a series of convincing answers to prayer, he also came to know that The Book of Mormon is true and that there really is one true Church on the earth today. Most importantly, because of The Book of Mormon, he learned what I already knew: that Jesus Chris is the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in various ways. I am fairly consistent at reading the scriptures on a daily basis. Days when I read the scriptures just go better - no questions asked. I also attend Church each Sunday and play basketball with some of my ward members each week. One of the most important ways I live my faith is through a program called hometeaching. I have been assigned several families in my neighborhood to visit on a monthly basis. Each month I have a chance to visit them in their homes to share a brief spiritual message and to ensure that they are doing well. It has been a blessing to get to know and serve these wonderful people.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No. But it's strongly encouraged that all youth who are able choose to serve. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I served my mission in Toronto, Canada. Show more Show less
