Hi I'm Melanie

I am a wife, mother, teacher, volunteer, neighbor and friend. I am a daughter of God, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Being a wife and mother are the two most important, most difficult and most rewarding jobs I have. My family means the world to me. I also teach piano which brings great joy. It is satisfying to be able to share something so dear to me (music) and watch students grow and learn and enjoy it as they gain understanding. I sew, for work and for pleasure. I enjoy creating something new, making art through quilting, and serving through alterations, gifts, or humanitarian aid projects. I volunteer at every opportunity, be it at the school, at church, or in the community. I hate saying no, but try to know my limits and not take on more than I can handle or that takes away from my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, but in my teen years began to doubt and question the teachings. When I moved away from home at age 18, I decided I needed to know for myself if it was true. I attended church, I read the Book of Mormon for the first time, and prayed to know if it was true. The Holy Ghost witnessed to me that the Book of Mormon is indeed true and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Christ's church, restored to the earth. I know it in my heart. Though being a Mormon isn't easy, I know it is right. And doing right brings happiness. Through obedience my testimony has grown stronger. I have inner peace when I am living the principles of the gospel. Sometimes I am sad, sometimes angry, sometimes frustrated; life is hard. But knowing that Jesus Christ lives, loves me, and will walk this road with me, I know I can turn to him for strength, courage, and healing. He is the light, the life and the way.

How I live my faith

I'm not perfect, but I strive to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ in all I think, say and do. My family reads scriptures and prays together every day. I try to help those in need. I forgive, and ask for forgiveness. I smile. I share. I give thanks to God for all things and am thankful to others who give.
