Hi I'm David

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a friend, an engineer, a fixer, a researcher, and an unintentional scholar. As a college student and research assistant, I'm a man of science who also sees a need for faith and values. I have friends from many different religious backgrounds, and I love and appreciate them all! I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I have read the Bible and the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ and found them to be both true and helpful in my life. The Book of Mormon helps me find more clarity in the Bible and both books help me to better know the Savior, his role in my life, and how I should live my life to be like Him. I believe that God cares about our lives individually, each and every one of us, just like a parent's care for his child. Towards my teen years and when I came to know that God truly did care about me, I began to pray more in earnest and try to ask him about decisions I was making in my life. One decision I chose to make was to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was able to spend two years in Romania teaching about Jesus Christ, helping out in some humanitarian projects, and learn from the life experiences of great Romanian people. I felt like I learned as much from their experience and faith as I did from my own. Since then, I have been blessed to have many opportunities in education in college and found great joy in associating with friends who share common standards with me from all backgrounds. I hope to learn to be an example to others of Jesus Christ over time and go to church every week to keep myself focused on things that matter most in life, like my family and loved ones.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending a branch of the church for young college-age adults and have what we call a calling or assignment that is a form of outreach to others in need. I have an assignment that sees me visiting another member of our church who has a physical handicap and has not felt up to this point very independent and teaching him skills like cooking, cleaning, and budgeting that will help him live on his own. I try to offer tutoring to others in math and science because I was blessed with some talent in these areas. My group of students and friends has activities just about every week where we do anything from volleyball to landscaping service for others who are not able to do so themselves. Last of all, I try to live up to the example of Jesus Christ's life. He lived solely to help and bless others and if I could do just a fraction of that, I would have done something with my life!

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

David
We do believe the Bible to be Holy Scripture and the word of God! I personally have found that I have learned a lot from books in the New Testament such as the book of James. I love the account of Jesus Christ's life found in the books of Matthew and Luke and the story of the apostle Paul found in Acts. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. This book serves as an additional testament of Jesus Christ and a companion to the Bible. Show more Show less
