Hi I'm Janae

I'm a Mormon from Washington state. I'm a recent college grad and newlywed, preparing to save the world-one child at a time.

About Me

I am a 24 year old recent college grad who studied School Health Education with minors in TESOL K-12, Physical Education/Coaching and Spanish. My passion is to see potential in others and to bring it out. I currently teach Spanish at an inner-city elementary school. I love, love, love my crazy students, and they make my work worth all the effort, as well as keep my life entertaining. I am from the marvelous state of Washington. My goals are to become a rockstar teacher, coach, nurse, professor, and mom. I have a wonderful family and the best husband I could ever ask for. I love life, learning, the Gospel, music, sports, the good old outdoors, dancing, and people. People make life great!!

Why I am a Mormon

My mom has always been a strong member of the LDS church. My dad joined the church later on in life, and it was both of them who introduced me to the Mormon faith. They raised me to believe that God lives, that He loves His children, that through reading The Book of Mormon and the scriptures we can grow closer to Him, and that the LDS church is the Lord's church on the earth. It was my parents who helped me gain a testimony of my own.Through learning this from them, as well as observing their Christlike examples, I gained the desire to gain my own testimony. After much prayer, fasting, and studying the scriptures, I received a confirmation from God, and I know that the LDS church is God's church on the earth today, and I will stay true to God and to this church for eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing little things each day to keep my testimony strong. It may seem like it takes a lot of time, but really, through reading my scriptures daily, doing my visiting teaching each month, preparing lessons to teach in Relief Society, serving others, attending the temple, and going to church each week, I end up having more time. Through doing these tasks, I am worthy to have the Spirit with me. Through having the Spirit, I can do my daily tasks more quickly and efficiently, and be so much more effective in all aspects of life.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Janae
A testimony is a firm conviction that someone has of a truth. It is gained through personal effort, and motivates one to action. For example, in my own life, I have gained a testimony to know that this is the Lord's true church on the earth today, that Joseph Smith is a true prophet, and that Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet on the earth today. I have had the opportunity to gain it myself through prayer, fasting, and reading the scriptures. This testimony is what motivates to be obedient to the Lord's commandments, to follow the prophet, and to do the the little things each day to keep my testimony strong, and most importantly, grow closer to and more like God.
