Hi I'm Dallas Hill

I'm a Mormon, and a Crimnal Justice major at the University of Wyoming outreach. Feel free to Say Hi.

About Me

I served in the Arizona Tempe Mission from 2003 to 2005. I spent three years in Law Enforcement, and recently got married in the IdahoFalls Temple. I have seen the trials of Depression, ADHD, Addiction and feel these experiences have strengthened me and my faith. I know that our Savior can heal any heart. His Powerful love is the light of the world. By receiving it we receive life, here and hereafter.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I have studied and prayed many times. Each time I have learned more about Heavenly Father's Plan for me. The more I learn the more I see that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is his organization on the earth to guide us through mortality. Everything else that leads people to God, he has put in place to lead them to this organization, with it's Priesthood and Prophets. I am a Mormon because I follow Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by using the thoughtful aphorism, “What Would Jesus Do?” I hope that the way I live will lead others to say, “I want to know God better”. I also try to help others the way he would if he were here. I am his servant I want to go where he leads, say what he would have me say, do what he would have me do, and be what he wants me to be. A better world starts with each person. I am just trying to be like Jesus.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Dallas Hill
I agree with the official church answer which in part states, "One definition listed for ‘cult’ in Webster’s Dictionary is “a religion regarded as unorthodox.” Since the roots of Mormonism are not a break off from the Catholic or Protestant churches, it is seen by some as unorthodox." When you look at the definition in that way, many label us as a cult. Call it what you want, the LDS church was in fact created and organized by Jesus Christ because no other Christian church was adequate to be called by Jesus Christ as His Church, (See Joseph Smith History 1:19). Many people think a cult is demonic or satanic in nature, and some are. However if you hold the LDS church up against this definition anyone can, with very little research, quickly conclude that there is nothing demonic or satanic about the LDS church. Cult is just a word used to label a group as outside the norm. In many respects the LDS Church is unique. The LDS Church is the only organization that pushes for families to be sealed in Temples, sends out full time missionaries for two years, and has an open cannon of scriptures. But we are also very common in that we believe the Bible, we worship Jesus Christ, and meet every Sunday to partake of the Sacrament. We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, and we prophesy of Christ. If you want to call us a cult, that is fine, but do not mistake us for being demonic or satanic.
