Hi I'm Lauren

I grew up on a farm in Canada, I love sports and reading, I'm a wife and mother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a crazy, funny, and active 2 yr old son, and a wonderfully supportive and loving husband. I grew up on a farm riding horses and loved being outside with my dad helping to look after the other animals as well. I love dance and have taken everything from hip hop and ballet, to clogging and highland. Sports is another love of mine, and again I have played competitively on many different teams. I graduated as a Registered Nurse and worked for 1 year before we had our son. I am currently a stay at home mom.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I know I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and has helped me to know that this is his true church. I have seen the peace and joy that comes into peoples lives when they live the principles of this church. My parents knew that this church was true and so raised me and my brothers and sisters in the church. Although I was raised a member of this church there is a point where you need to decide if you really believe what is being taught. If you do truly believe what is being taught then you want to follow this gospel and be a part of this wonderful church. I have come to know that this church is true through many different experiences in my life where I know that the Lord is aware of me and pleased with my decisions. They start even when I was a child and was learning and singing about Jesus at church. Even as a teenager I continued to have felt a peace and joy while going to various church meeting and activites. One of the neat things is that even during hard times or challenges in my life that is when I know 100% that the Lord is with me and is still pleased with my decisions and has helped me to get through what ever situation I have to go through. I am a mormon because as a member of this church I know I have a Father in Heaven that loves me, I have direction and purpose in my life, and I know I will be with my family forever, even after we die. Plus with all of the friends, activities, and parties, being a mormon is really fun.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by trying to obey the commandments we have been taught. Everyday I try and read my scriptures and pray, but most importantly I try to be like our Savior Jesus Christ. The church has given me an opportunity to serve and love as the Savior would. My responsibility currently in the church is to be on a service committee, where I am specifically in charge of making sure the expectant and new mothers are doing okay. I visit and bring them a gift once they have their babies and make sure meals and any other service required is arranged. I love having this opportunity to look after and help those who might need it as I have received so much help as well from family and other church members over the years. It is a comforting feeling knowing that everyone helps, cares, and looks after everyone else in the church

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Lauren
Only some Mormons are allowed to go into temples because of the sacredness of the temples. Those who are living worthily and honestly are allowed to enter the temple. The temple is the "House of the Lord" and we esteem it with such respect that we make sure those who are in the temple are worthy to participate. We don't talk about the specifics of the temple because they are so sacred and we want to keep it that way. In the temple we can be bound as eternal families, learn more about our purpose here on earth, and baptize those who did not get the opportunity while they were living. It is a place where we would love everyone one day to be worthy to enter. Show more Show less
