Hi I'm Keely

I'm a student, a friend, a daughter, a sister, and I KNOW that I am a child of God. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 8 children, and I was born into the church. I have lived and/or spent a significant amount of time in all the regions of the US. I love music, people, reading, traveling, and I love to enjoy all of those and more with the people I love. I recently decided, after a 5 year hiatus, that I need to finish my bachelor's degree. In January I will leave my hometown, move back to Utah and start again. I'll be working toward a Music Education degree.

Why I am a Mormon

I spent much of my life since I turned 18 skirting the edges of activity in the church. A few years ago I completely fell out of activity and I didn't care at all about the consequences of the choices I was making. In January of 2008, the Lord showed me that if I didn't make a change, it would be a long, and very hard time before I would be able to return to the church. It was a 'rock bottom' that I was not willing to hit. In that rare moment of revelation, I made the hard choice to work for real happiness instead of just enjoying the fun of the moment. I moved half-way across the country to a city where I had never been, and the Lord provided every step of my journey. In my repentance process, I had never been so loved and supported, even by strangers, than I was at that time. Two years of learning to trust my Father in Heaven brought me to the doors of His temple. I now enjoy the blessing of temple attendance, and I would not trade it for all the 'fun' in the world. I KNOW that my Heavenly Father, and His son, Jesus Christ, love ME. I know that Joseph Smith is the prophet of the restoration, and that the Book of Mormon has more truth contained in it's pages than any other book on the earth. I know that my life is better when I choose to read it daily. I know that without prayer and my knowledge of the Plan of Salvation, I would be lost. I have no idea where my road will lead, but I know that the path that my Savior has in store for me is better than any I could find on my own.

How I live my faith

I believe that this is Christ's church, and that I have a responsibility to stand as a witness for Him. It is hard for me to imagine what Christ would do in any situation, as he was perfect and I am not. However, with the help of His spirit, I can say, "What would He have me do?" I live my faith by striving to seek the will of the Lord in my life.

What is the difference between attending a Mormon Church and a Mormon Temple?

The church buildings are where we meet every week to worship together. Our meetings and social gatherings in our church buildings are open to the public and we welcome anyone from any faith or background to come join and learn more about who we are. While we welcome all people to enjoy the peace and reverence of the temple grounds and our visitor centers, the temple itself is a holy place. Our Temples are sacred, not secret. They are a place for revelation and worship that is untouched by the outside world. For me the temple is a privilege that I have because of my commitment to live in accordance with the commandments of God. Every individual who makes that same commitment has the ability to enjoy that same privilege. Show more Show less
