Hi I'm Courtney Epperson

I LOVE TO DANCE! I love being hilarious. I love when YOU are hilarious, and I'm a Mormon. OH yeah, and I love tacos.

About Me

Hello! I was born and raised in San Diego. I'm the youngest of 7 kids. I love the beach, volleyball, and going to college, even though the homework is really hard sometimes! I love crafting!! I love Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Nacho Libre, Thor, and a lot of other movies. I love dancing, MUSIC MAKES ME LOSE CONTROL! especially at church dances! Or on the Wii. My friends are super rad and we have so much fun just being us! My ward is legit! I love my ward family and all the grand times we have together. People are my passion and I can't wait to be a high school teacher one day. I was a camp counselor for the church's EFY program. I love the youth and I love relating to them, teaching them, and learning from them. Jesus Christ is my Savior and the Church is true!!

Why I am a Mormon

I had the great opportunity to be born into the Church. Throughout my life I always knew that this was the true gospel, but through sincere prayer and the witnessing of my own little miracles in my life, I know that this is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and that this is exactly where I need to be. It's not always easy to be so different from everyone else, but it has always been worth it. The gospel and my testimony of Jesus Christ and his Atonement enrich my life in ways that are hard to put into words. I feel like my life would be meaningless and have zero direction if I didn't know who I am, where I came from, and where I am going. Jesus Christ gives me hope, and I am grateful for that. My mom was born into this gospel, and comes from a line of members that came on boats across the Atlantic Ocean from Iceland to seek Zion. My dad heard about the gospel while he was on a minesweeper in the Vietnam War. His friend, Rocky, told him about Joseph Smith, the Restoration and faith in Jesus Christ. My Father grew up a Southern Baptist and loved that church, but always knew, from the time he was a little boy, that something was missing. The truths that Rocky told my dad on that ship resonated through his spirit and he still stands as a witness and testimony that Jesus is the Christ. My parents raised me up in a good household where church was the center of our hearts and passed onto me the same testimony that lives to strongly in them. THAT'S why I'm a mormon.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I am the Gospel Doctrine teacher. This calling challenges me to constantly be thinking about the Savoir and the scriptures, and how they apply to our current lives. Somehow, the fact that I am a Mormon comes up very quickly in my dealings with others, and because of that I must remain a constant example to those around me. Faith is not just something you think about, it is something you do and something you must LIVE! Living your faith doesn't mean being perfect all the time, but it does mean trying your hardest to follow the Savoir, and when you do mess up taking advantage of his atonement and being better than you were before. I love going to activities and feeling the friendship and love that comes from striving the live the gospel and being around those who are doing the same.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Courtney Epperson
Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. We revere him in the sense that we are grateful for the sacrifices he made in order to be worthy enough to be the man that Heavenly Father chose to restore the gospel. I love Joseph Smith and have a great testimony that he is a prophet and a man of God, but I worship God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?
