Hi I'm Dirk

I grew up in Southern California, own an Executive Search firm, I am a Grandpa and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, grew up in Sylmar, California. I love sports, especially baseball and know too much about the 1965 Los Angeles Dodgers (for example the entire starting in-field were switch-hitters). For a time my siblings and I were raised by a single-parent mother and we were on County and Church welfare assistance. I, barely, graduated from the Los Angeles Unified School District :) Somehow I completed an undergraduate and a graduate degree and went to work in the software industry. Eventually I started my own company fulfilling a dream to be self-employed, a dream I developed one summer working for my maternal grandfather in the printing business in Idaho. I am a husband, a father and a grandfather who loves family, freedom, sports, boating, four-wheelers and pushing the grandchildren in a tire-swing and listening to them scream, higher, higher, higher.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child I was raised as a Mormon attending church services weekly. Overtime my family stopped practicing our faith and we all became "less-active" church members. At age 17, thanks to the efforts of three of my peers from church and their adult leader and with their encouragement I returned to the faith of my grandparents. As I began to understand the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the love Heavenly Father has for all His children. I came to believe what the Prophet Joseph Smith testified of, that he saw the Father and the Son. My belief in modern-day prophets and more importantly our Lord and Redeemer, Jesus Christ is rooted in the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I know He lives.

How I live my faith

My wife and I have served as leaders of about 180 mostly young mormon missionaries in the Southeast part of the United States. Before that I worked with young men between the ages of 12-18, helping them in their efforts to become Eagle Scouts and prepare for their future, schooling, careers, family and service to the community.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I think it begins with Hope. Hope that He lives and loves all of His children. Then spend time with Him, talking with Him and listening for His guidance. Sometimes we call this prayer, sometimes it is being outside and reflecting on His beautiful creations. His Son, taught "If ye love me, keep my commandments" I believe as we live good, clean and honest lives we come to feel the love of our Heavenly Father and know He lives. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

It is a sacred record translated from ancient writings of prophets who lived in the Western Hemisphere. The highlight of the book is the visit of the resurrected Christ to the people of Ancient America. I believe if a person reads the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart, with real intent and faith in Jesus Christ they will receive a spiritual feeling that it is the word of God. Show more Show less
