Hi I'm Cheryl

I'm married to the most wonderful man I know, I'm a geologist, I'm a full-time mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love geology, everything about it is exciting. Ok, not everything is exciting, some of it is pretty dull. But anyway, I still love most of the things about geology. I find it fascinating. I love to hike and be outdoors. I love to be with family and friends. I'm a first time mom, which is very exciting for me. After being single so long when I reached my 30s I didn't think I would ever get married, there was no best friend in sight. Then I moved halfway across the US of A on a good feeling where I met my husband and the rest is history. Life isn't always hunky-dory, but we try to make it that way.

Why I am a Mormon

As I said above, I love geology. This Earth we live on fascinates me. I marvel at God's creation. I've always wanted to know all about this great planet we inhabit. By studying the Earth and the minerals that it is comprised of I feel so much closer to God and the beauty he has created for us to enjoy while we are here. I also study the Bible and Book of Mormon and find the same peace that I do when I am out amongst nature. Through my study of the scriptures and the science books I have been privileged to read I have come to gain a personal witness of the realness of God. I've prayed to God and asked him if what I am reading and what I am feeling was from him. I've receive the answer "yes" over and over again in my life. I've never heard a voice or seen a vision, but I know deep in my heart that the scriptures God has given us including the Bible and the Book of Mormon are true. They are his words passed down to us through his chosen prophets. This knowledge has helped me deal with so many things life has thrown at me. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is true. It makes me happy. It makes me happy to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to keep it simple. Be kind to those around me. Help those I see in need. I'm trying to be like Jesus (ok, so that part isn't very simple, but I'm trying).

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes, Mormons do regard the Bible as Holy Scripture, the word of God. I remember the first time I sat down and studied the Bible instead of just skimming the Bible or remembering others telling me stories about it. I was in my early twenties. The Savior came alive in my life as I read about the prophets prophesying about his life and trials and reading about the Saviors life itself. It's not just stories in a book. And I know that the Savior will also come alive for all those who study his life. It's real, it's true. Show more Show less
