Hi I'm Carla

I am a wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, Paramedic, and I am Mormon.

About Me

I am a Paramedic. I have been working in EMS for over 20 years. I love my job, but I still look for opportunities to work in other areas of medicine. I am critical care certified, but currently not working in an area that will utilize this skill. I am a very sensitive and caring person and love doing things for others. I grew up in a military family and moved many times as a child. I was born in Mississippi. I’ve lived in several states in the US, including Puerto Rico and Hawaii. I never got to visit in other countries, although I was always around people from other cultures. I make friends very easily, and I am a life long friend. I am a wife, a mother of 2 boys, and a step-mother to a wonderful young woman who has taught me a lot. I have 2 wonderful daughters-in-law, and a great son-in-law. I also have 1 granddaughter, 3 grandsons and 1 on the way. I love my family, and love watching it grow. I have several hobbies...I love the outdoors; mainly camping. I love crafts....sewing, knitting, crocheting, making jewelry, and working with puzzles. I love animals! We have several, including some rescues.

Why I am a Mormon

Over the years I have visited and been a member of other denominations. When I had my first couple of visits from the Missionaries, I felt like they were not teaching me anything new. I already knew that God was my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ was his Son. I knew that Jesus came to earth to be a sacrifice for our salvation and the only way to Heaven was through our Savior, Jesus Christ. I learned from the Missionaries that before I was born, I was a spirit daughter of our Heavenly Father, and I was living in his presence. I knew that in order for me to learn and grow, I would need to come to earth to be faced with, and overcome many challenges and temptations. Before I was sent to earth, I made a promise to my Heavenly Father that I would follow Jesus Christ, so that I could one day return to Him. Once we are sent to earth, we remember nothing of our pre-earth life. This is why it’s so important to have faith. We all know we want to go to Heaven and often refer to it as home, because it truly is our home. The Savior showed us the way and how we should live our lives. When we come to earth, we receive a mortal body of flesh and bone. Just like Jesus, we will also die a mortal death. Jesus Christ overcame this and showed us we can be resurrected. Because of the atonement, Jesus Christ made it possible for our spirits to be reunited with our bodies. This is a gift from him that all of us will receive. That’s why he is called our Savior and Redeemer. I am Mormon because of my belief in the fullness of the Gospel. Just like in ancient times, we have a living Prophet on the earth today, to lead and guide us. I believe the Bible and the Book of Mormon to be the Word of God. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, just like the New Testament is to the Old Testament. The Bible teaches us about the prophesy of the Book of Mormon being brought to us in these latter days.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by service. Whether it be for church, work, or family. I love being able to help. I have been involved in various callings. Sunday School Teacher, Visiting Teacher, Ward Missionary, Enrichment Specialist, Personal Progress Advisor, Assistant Ward Young Women Camp Director, and Relief Society Assistant Day Meeting Coordinator. I’m also involved with the Young Men, in support of my husband's calling. I love being able to participate in youth activities. Our youth are truly an inspiration and a blessing to me. Being a former Sunday School Teacher for 12 and 13 year olds, was a great challenge for me! I was given that calling when everything was still new to me, and I didn't feel I was the right person to be teaching. With the help of my students, we succeeded in teaching each other. I held that position for close to 5 years. My students have grown up and moved on, but I am still learning through the examples our youth. I pray every day, morning and night. I know that if I ever need answers, I can pray to my Heavenly Father who is always listening. I can look to the scriptures or listen to the words of our Prophet. I have the gift of the Holy Ghost, and if I listen very carefully, I will hear that still small voice and be guided. I try to be an example for others by choosing the right, and following the commandments.
