Hi I'm Russell

I'm expanding the frontiers of medical imaging technology. Being an avid skier, I love cold weather. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Ph.D. student in a five-year biomedical engineering program. Though grad school can be demanding, I have always believed that family should come first. Many of my colleagues are surprised to find out that I'm already a husband and father, even though I'm in my mid-twenties. Most of my hobbies revolve around things I can do with my family, like watching or participating in sports, playing or listening to music, and experiencing the great outdoors. I am also passionate about downhill skiing and whitewater rafting, and can't wait to experience these adventures with my wife and kids.

Why I am a Mormon

Through the years, I have come to the realization that the purpose of life is to have joy. In studying the gospel, it has become clear to me that God has given us all a chance to live on earth, make our own choices, and grow as we learn from the good or bad consequences that follow. I know that God reveals to a modern prophet how we can make the best choices so as to be happy regardless of our circumstances. The knowledge and experience that I develop as I heed the counsel of God's living prophet and make correct choices allows me to feel joyful even when conflict, tragedy, and pain are introduced into my life. With this perspective, no hardship is insurmountable.

How I live my faith

I serve in the church by coordinating the efforts of the men in our congregation as they work to strengthen their families in both temporal and spiritual ways. Another way that I live my faith is through taking some time out of every day to read from the scriptures with my wife. This time together is crucial because it allows us a moment to "pause" the world around us and focus on building our spiritual relationships with God and with each other.
