Hi I'm Charmaine

I grew up in a single parent household. I'm a wife. I'm a sister. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 25 year old woman full of dreams for myself and my community. I am a Girl Scout troop leader, I tutor, and I teach Primary (8 and 9 year olds) at my local church. I love to read all kinds of books, especially from Black authors, and I'm a sucker for brain teasers and math. I also enjoy hosting showers, parties, and dinners for friends and family. I am the step mother to a handsome little boy and the wife to a handsome (and awesome) man. I love my church, my friends, and most of all my family!

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church by my then boyfriend and now husband. He would always bring me to church but he never pressured (or even asked for that matter) me to get baptised or talk with the missionaries. I actually went behind his back and started asking questions and setting up discussions. Of course, he found out before I made it home that evening. He stayed with me and walked with me every step of the way, answering any questions he could. My "moment" came when a friend and church member asked to read a few verses he chose from the Book of Mormon. When I got home, I got down on my knees and prayed and then read the verses I had written down. Immediately I felt a "burning" or "sincerety" in my heart that I had never experienced before. I later learned that this was the Holy Ghost telling me that I was on the right path. Every since I joined the church, my life has changed for the better. I beat my problem with alcohol and tobacco almost over night and any desire to pick them back up is shattered with a simple prayer. I love the church's dedication to family, family is the most important thing in my life. The most rewarding thing I received from joining the LDS church is an eternal marriage with my husband. What a wonderful feeling to know that he loves me so much that not only does he want to marry me until death do us part, but for ETERNITY!

How I live my faith

I teach 8 and 9 year olds in Primary at our church. How rewarding! Not only have I learned so much about Jesus and the Gospel in such a short amount of time, but I have strengthened my own testimony. Not only do I get a chance to teach my class about the Gospel, but they have taught me a few lessons as well!

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Charmaine
A husband and wife can be together forever if they live the gospel and are married in the temple. In the temple you take special vows that don't include the words "til death do you part." I think that's the ultimate token of love... to be married eternally. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Charmaine
When I got engaged, many people asked which wife I was gonna be... the 1st or the 3rd. A lot of people were joking, but there are still people that believe that Mormon men are married to more than one woman at a time. I promise you that my husband could not handle more than one of me! Our church does not practice polygamy, although there is a church with a similar name that does practice polygamy, they are not related or connected with our church. Show more Show less
