Hi I'm Dana Blake

I am a college student, a choir member, an author, a young wife, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

Ever since I can remember, I have loved reading and making up stories. I love expressing my thoughts and feelings through writing and other art forms like sketching, dancing, and singing. These activities have helped me to gain confidence that I lacked, and helped me to find an outlet for my emotions. I love to sing because it allows me to borrow someone else's words, but still pour my heart into what I am expressing.

Why I am a Mormon

From a very young age I have felt the presence of the Lord in my life, and felt the Spirit testifying to me that this church is true. When I was about sixteen I felt like I was missing something. Although I had been born a member of this church, I had slowly let myself drift away. I still attended weekly meetings, but my heart was no longer in what I did. I decided to turn to the Savior and put his doctrines to the test. I began willingly going to all church activities, and really paying attention to the lessons being taught. I read the scriptures daily, and prayed fervently multiple times a day. During this period I gained an unshakably strong testimony of the love the Lord has for me and of the truth and divinity of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

First and foremost, I pray and read my scriptures as often as I can. I try to have a close relationship to my Heavenly Father. I also attend church once a week. In my congregation, I am the ward music coordinator. I am responsible for working with the bishop to ask other members to lead the music, play organ, and lead the ward choir. I am also in charge of selecting hymns for Sacrament Meeting and organizing musical numbers. Once a month another woman and I take the time to visit with a few women in our congregation. Our job is to teach them a short lesson about the Gospel, help them with any of their needs, and be a friend to them. My husband and I volunteer as workers in the Provo temple. We assist in ordinances and help patrons who are unfamiliar with our temple to know where to go. We love working in the temple because the spirit is so strong there.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Dana Blake
When you are filled with the love of Christ, you cannot be content to keep it to yourself. The love and joy that come from this gospel are so overwhelmingly beautiful that it begins to effect the way you see other people. You start to see them as brothers and sisters whom you love, even if you have never met them, and you want to share that joy with them so that they can be happy. When you have this love in your life, you simply cannot be still until you have done all you can to share that love with the world. This is why members of our church serve full time missions. They love the Lord and the people they serve and want nothing more than to bring lasting happiness to those who surround them. Show more Show less
