Hi I'm Steve

I grew up in Colorado. I work with adults who have brain injuries. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am working with adults who have disabilities. Most of the adults i work with have brain injuries causing a number of problems. I assist them in living as independently as possible. When I am home I spend time with me beautiful wife. We are expecting our first child and are excited to get the home ready for his arrival. We live in a modest home and love to have people come over for dinner and games.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that were members of the church. As i grew up however I wasn't always the most ideal child. I had a number of problems that would come up in my life. During my early high school years I stopped and took a look at why I believed what I believed. My parents were encouraging in this matter. They even encouraged my to take time to go with friends to church and see what they believed. Through these experiences I was able to grow and learn. After a few years I came to the knowledge of the truth. I knew the gospel of Jesus Christ was on the earth and I came to know that there was a prophet alive today. I can adequately express through writing the joy that filled me when I came to this knowledge. God wants us to be happy and as i try to follow his teaching found in the scriptures and the example of his son Jesus Christ, I can feel of that happiness and love.

How I live my faith

I like to think of living my faith as following the guidance of President Hinckley. He said that people should see the way you live your life and be able to tell that you are a follower of Jesus Christ. I try each day to exemplify that by my interactions with others. I look for ways to serve and help everyone around me. I feel the strongest way we show our faith is by how we act outside of church.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Steve
We do not worship Joseph Smith. The name of the church is The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are followers of Christ. We worship him and God the father. In Ancient days the Lord had prophets on the earth like Abraham, Jacob, and Moses. As Christians we respect these men as God's messengers. We see them as tools in God's hands to bless us. In the Latter-Days we have prophets again on the earth with the same calling as the ancient Prophets we see them and respect them in the same way. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Steve
The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. It is a responsibility to serve. There is nothing in the priesthood that you can do for your self. Everything is base on the principle of service. Those with the priesthood do things that were done anciently namely: the blessing of the sick, baptism, the administration for the sacrament, and many other responsibilities. However even with the priesthood the holder must be worthy to have and/or use this authority. This worthiness is based on following the teachings of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
