Hi I'm Shelly

There is nothing better than the joy that comes through living the gospel principles! My family can be together forever!

About Me

I am a very happy wife and mother of three boys and one daughter! My family is my world. I graduated with a teaching degree in Elementary Education. I taught for several years until my husband graduated from college. Now I am an elementary school librarian. It is great! I am involved in other activities such as my kids football, basketball, and volleyball games. Right now I have the best calling, I get to give back to the Young Women's program that gave me my start. I'm a Laurel Advisor and work with girls 16-18 yrs. old. They have so much goodness inside.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be! My family was never active in the church. As a teenager there were two young women's leaders that made all of the differnce in my life. They included me and I even sat with their family during sacrament meeting when I would go. My desire for all things spiritual grew after High School. Because of my foundation in the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have a wonderful husband and four active teen children. We have our struggles, but we are an eternal family that lifts and strengthens each other. I know that I am what and who I am today because of what the gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me become.

How I live my faith

I enjoy going to church on Sunday. It is such a lift to partake of the sacrament and focus on Christ and my relationship with him. I teach the young women and we have a great time strengthening each other. The best activity that I participate in is attending the temple. I have been attending weekly for many years. Nothing can compare to the peace and reverence found there. I know that my family is happier and stronger because the temple is a focus in my life. We have family home evening on Monday nights. It isn't dramatic, but we do enjoy being together and hanging out. Having the spirit in our home is a great feeling.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

My family is the most important thing! I know that after we die, those family relationships can continue. I have a loving husband and want most of all to have that relationship forever. By being sealed in the temple through the priesthood power, marriage and families will be together even after death. Nothing can compare to the joy I have spending time with my children. We have such a great time together now. I definitely want it to keep going. Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

My son is serving a church mission in the Philippines right now. He worked very hard while he was younger to earn the money to go. By saving most of the money he made, he was able to save enough to pay for the monthly expenses for two years. Our family budgeted the money to help pay for the supplies he would need to begin his mission; clothing, luggage, passport, and such. My children at home willingly contribute to help in extra supplies that we send in packages and letters. It has brought our family closer and we are becoming attached to his mission through his letters and experiences. My other two sons are even more excited to serve a mission than they were before. Now with the change in the age missionaries can serve, my second son is sending in his application to go. Show more Show less
