Hi I'm Sam

I grew up on the slopes of Utah. I'm serving a mission. I love fun way too much. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Im 20 years old. I am currently serving a mission in Atlanta, Georgia. I tell people I am from Vancouver, Washington because thats where I have lived for the past few years but I will always consider Utah as home. I come from a family of 7 including my parents. 2 girls and 3 boys (best for last especially true in this case with me being the youngest.) We are all pretty crazy in our own way but we love eachother anyways. I absolutely love sports, including: tennis, raquetball, soccer, basketball, and of course, skiing and snowboarding. I am without doubt, (ask anyone who knows me haha) a video gamer. I use my talents to make other people not want to play video games by dominating others in: World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Halo and a few others. I am looking at going to college to obtain a degree in Technical Sales to possibly become a Pharmaceutical Representative, but who knows? But all in all, I am a fun-loving, outgoing, energetic ,optimistic, humorous, loving, sometimes crazy guy who would love for people to write him letters. Thanks for reading my profile and making the 5 minuets it took to create it worthwhile. And thats how the cookie crumbles...

Why I am a Mormon

Well I made a BIG HUGE story on how I became a Mormon but, It didnt save so I'll just make a shorter answer. I am a Mormon simply because I want to follow Jesus Christ. Now of course I realize that many other people would say the same thing and yet they arnt Mormon. I believe everyone follows God in the way they believe is right by making decisions based on the light and knowledge they have recieved. While searching to find which was the right way for me I ultimately came face to face with the Book of Mormon which stood as the biggest obstacle to overcome. I had to find out for myself if it was true because it claims that if it is, then there isnt a need to search any longer to find the more correct way to follow God. Because if in fact the Book of Mormon is the word of God then Joseph Smith was his Prophet. And no Prophet of God could establish a false church. I have come to know for myself through the power of the Holy Ghost that the church that the chosen Prophet, Joseph Smith, established is completely and unquestionably true. If one simply looks close enough at what this church does then they could see that Gods hand is involved because everything just fits together. Almost as if its design came from the grand designer himself. The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints is the one and only true church of God on this whole earth. And I KNOW it because my Heavenly Father loved me enough to let me know that simple truth and not leave me in darkness and confusion. Any one of God's children can come to know the same thing. "Knock and it shall be opened unto you."

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example to those around me. I try to apply the scripture that says, "be thou an example of the believers." As a missionary its easy to see that many people observe our actions. We say that we are representatives of Jesus Christ and we are held to that. But it should be the same for members of the church as well. If we are members of the church of Jesus Christ then we have already promised to be examples as his diciples. We should act as he would act. We have been commanded to be "perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect." I believe thats how we should live our faith.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Sam
Absolutely, absolutely, and absolutely. When one takes a close look at life they quickly realize that there has to be more to it than what the world tells us. And the answer is yes! Family relationships are not meant to end after this life. We are all part of God's family so why is it so far off to say that God has a plan for this whole family thing? Here is the thing about becoming an eternal family. You have to learn how to. The reward at the end of a life filled with faith, obedience, honesty, and love is to be with your family for as long as you can imagin. If there was ever a husband or wife who truely loved eachother, or a father and mother who truely loved their family, I know that they would not deny that being with those they held to closest to them would be one of if not the greatest blessing they could think of. I know families can be together forever. I know I will be with mine and that is more comforting than words can describe. And Heavenly Father be thanked for making that possible for all of us. What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Sam
We do believe in equality of men of women. However, we also believe that both have paticular and important roles to fulfil together. Men have the role to preside over the home and to protect and care for their families. They are also to hold the priesthood and and fulfill the duties found therin. A Womans role is to nurture and care for the family. She is often so important that without her, the family would fall apart. As for the second question, Mormon women are amazing. They have a unique sense of humor which we find adorable and they often have a healthy balance in their lives and seem to be doing all they can to reach their full potential. If I wasnt a member of this church I would still definitly look at marrying a Mormon woman for sure! Show more Show less
