Hi I'm Corinna

I'm a mommy. I'm a teacher. I'm a redhead. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a new mom, and I love it! And I'm still in love with my wonderful husband. I graduated from college a few years ago and now I'm a part-time Spanish teacher. I love to read - I have over 700 books in my home library (our bedroom). Someday, I want to write a book - fiction. I don't want to be famous, I just want to share my words.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in the Church, I had to make my own decision. When I was 15 I decided I needed my own testimony and witness. I prayed and read my scriptures every night. I asked Heavenly Father over and over to let me know if the Church was true. And every night, while I was praying, I would fall asleep. I got a little upset with Heavenly Father. I wanted an answer, and He kept letting me fall asleep! One night, I told Him so. And while I was praying, a few words came into my mind from a scripture I had been reading. I grabbed my scriptures and searched for it. I found my answer in Doctrine and Covenants 6:22-23. "...if you desire a further witness, cast your mind upon the night that you cried unto me in your heart, that you might know concerning the truth of these things. Did I not speak peace to your mind concerning the matter? What greater witness can you have than from God?" I realized that I was at peace. So much in fact that I would always fall asleep! I knew my Heavenly Father had heard my prayers and had answered me in a way I would understood. And I knew that all I had been taught is correct, and that this is God's church.

How I live my faith

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It makes me happy. And although life is still full of ups and downs, sorrow and joy, my knowledge of eternal truths keeps me going. I love to find opportunities to share what I believe - be it in an online forum, on the bus or an airplane, or simply through the way I live my life. I love to teach. I love to speak in church, teach classes, visit other members or help someone who's having a bad day. The more I share my testimony, the more I understand, and the closer I get to my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes. I definitely consider myself a Christian. I understand a Christian to be someone who believes in and follows Jesus Christ. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This is His church. I want to be like Him. He is my example, my way, my path. So yes, Mormons are Christians. We believe in Jesus Christ and follow Him. Show more Show less

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

God needed to raise up a righteous people. Church membership started out small. What better way for God to build His church than to have children born to parents who would love them and teach them His gospel? It was a hard commandment to follow for those early members. But they had faith and followed out of love for the Lord. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No. A mission is not a requirement. For guys ages 19-25, it is strongly encouraged as part of their responsibilities as Priesthood holders. For single women, age 21 and up, if we "have desires to serve, we are called to the work". I wanted to serve a mission, so I did. It was a wondrous, difficult, amazing, faith-building, life-changing experience. And I would do it again in a heartbeat. Someday, when my children are grown, I want to serve again with my husband.
