Hi I'm Matthew Summers

I grew up in Utah. I've always been a hard worker. I'm a music fanatic and I love to run long distances, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 24 years old, and I'm currently a student at WSU going into Mechanical Engineering Technology. I come from a family of 4 boys, and I am the 3rd. My mom passed away when I was 16, and it's because of her that I've gained a lot of my traits. Even though I've been grounded a couple of times in the past, I know that it's because she loves me and she wants me to be the best person that I can be. It's also because of her that I'm big into running, especially long distance. I've participated in ragnar, which was an amazing experience both physically and spiritually. I am very much a family person, and I wouldn't let anything happen to mine. If something did, then I would do what I can to fix it.My dad has remarried since, and now I have 4 more awesome brothers and an awesome step mom. They have brought a lot of fun and happiness to our family, and I'm proud to call them my family. One of my favorite acronyms is LIFE: Love Is For Everyone. I also like to workout at the gym. I am a music fanatic, and I love to sing and I don't care who can hear me. I love to snowboard. I love to work outdoors, and when I have a job to do, I make it fun but I take it seriously and I get it done. I work hard, and do my best at the job at hand. I actually woked on a golf course as maintenance, and I enjoy golfing as well. I also like to create tribal designs. Even though I may not be the best at the stuff I do, I know that I'm doing my best and I'm enjoying the life God has given me.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always grown up in the church, and I've always followed it's teachings. However, that's not why I'm Mormon. I'm Mormon because I find that it brings me and my family happiness. Sure we may not get along all the time, hey most of the time my little brother and I fought, but we still love each other. My family are the most important people to me, and this gospel teaches that we can be with our families for eternity. That's one of the most precious things that I hold close to me. When I was a Junior in Highschool, my mom passed away from renal cell carsinoma. Or in other terms, kidney cancer. She was diagnosed when I was 3 years old, and she wasn't expected to live very long. When she passed away, that was the hardest day of my life. I couldn't even stay at home because I hurt so bad. That day I was so miserable, and I didn't know what to do with my life. I wasn't even able to tell her how much I loved her, and how sorry I was for everything I put her through. She was the most inspiring person in my life, and she always helped me when I needed it. Seeing her pass like that just killed me inside, and it still does. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be who I am today. If it wasn't for this gospel, and the knowledge that families can be together forever, I would be lost. I know that families can be together forever. I know that I will be with my mom again and that I will be able to tell her how much I love her. I know this and I can testify that families are forever and that Christ lives and He's the one who made that possible.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is through service. I dedicated 2 years of my life to help others, and to serve the Lord in the St. Louis area. I always find doing service is the best way for me. Even though I am home now, that doesn't stop me in looking for those opportunities. Service really shows what kind of person you are, and it's something that Christ teaches. "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God" Mosiah 2:17. Service has not only brought joy into my life, but it brings joy into others lives and it's just a great feeling over all. Not only do I live my faith through service, but I also do the simple little things like praying, reading the scriptures, and going to church.
