Hi I'm Chris Storrs

I'm a Mormon because I feel at peace with life and The church gives simple answers to complex questions.

About Me

I love to hear brass band music and I played the E flat bass in one of the local bands in Nottinghamshire from my teens to late twenties. I worked in warehousing and delivery from leaving school until an accident in my late thirties. I'm a dad with two sons and two grandchildren from a previous marriage; I'm now remarried and look after my step-granddaughter.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always loved the gospel stories although as a child my family did not belong to any church and believed that there was something missing but didn’t know what. A few years after an accident at work and a divorce I met a lovely lady at college and there also met the missionaries who were there as part of a religious awareness day. After talking and listening to the missionaries it was as though the gates were suddenly opened and a flood came in they gave me the invitation to listen to their message and I accepted. When they spoke to me about the Book of Mormon and its origin, and a feeling of gratitude came knowing that the gospel of Jesus Christ had been restored upon the earth. On receiving a copy of the book of Mormon I had to read it cover to cover and couldn’t put it down. It took me 5 days to read it, It was about this time I discovered my lady friend who is now my wife was a less active member. I knew the gospel to be true and after a short while I was baptised and confirmed a member of the church and know it was the best decision ever made and we are still trying to convince the family to do the same. I knew the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints to be the true church on the earth and still do.

How I live my faith

Being British and practically being brought up on tea I didn’t find it much of a problem to stop drinking it and I had already decided to give up alcohol and stop cigar smoking by the time I had met the missionaries and now after 9 years I feel happy and healthier. As a new member being introduced to home teaching was daunting but with having good companions I am now equipped to carry on the work. I have tried to do the best I can in whatever calling I have been asked to do within the ward. I live the faith by doing all I can and to be a good example to my family and friends. I try to achieve and keep to a standard, and will not lower that for anyone. I can do this on a daily basis by doing and keeping things simple.
