Hi I'm Eric

I'm a Bank Executive, speak Spanish fluently, helped raise five children , I now have fifteen grandchildren, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in Idaho to goodly parents who are still living in the town where I grew up. I have six siblings. As a young boy I enjoyed fishing, skiing, working on the farm, riding horses, hiking, camping and all the other fun things of life. When I was 19, I served a mission for the mormon church in Argentina, South America for two years. Upon my return, I attended college where I met my sweetheart, whom I married in 1976 in the Idaho Falls Temple. I then finished my BS degree in Political Science at BYU, and then pursued and obtained my MBA in International Business. Over the years we lived in Utah, Arizona, Texas , Montana and now Fort Collins, CO, during which time we've raised five children, who are all now married. So far, they have given us fourteen grandchildren with number 15 due in August '13! How blessed we have been in our lives. I enjoy golfing, gardening, fly fishing and spending time with friends and family!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was to born parents who are Mormon, ultimately, I had to make the decision whether I wanted to become a member of the church. I was baptized and confirmed a member when 8 years of age. However, it took me several years to really understand the doctrine of the church, and to gain a belief or testimony of its truth. My missionary experience in Argentina, set a firm foundation upon which I have built a life long pursuit of active involvement in the church. I suppose that the 'water shed' experience that prompted me to go on a mission for the church, happened when I was 18 years of age. I had not always planned to serve a mission, even though I grew up in the church. At the time I was taking a religion class at Ricks College (a church-owned school which today is BYU-Idaho), and the course of study was the Book of Mormon. While I still had doubts as to the verasity of this book of scripture, I nonetheless, found my self reading the assignments, and becoming more interested in the teachings found therein. However, it was only when I finally decided to pray to God, and ask Him if this book was true, that I recieved a witness from the Holy Ghost, that it was the word of God. From that point forward, until the present, I gave gained a personal witness, or testimony based on faith , prayer and study, that the Book of Mormon is true. I also know that the young prophet, Joseph Smith, did indeed translate an ancient record, which today is the Book of Mormon. I also know that this young prophet did recieve a visitation from God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, while praying to know the truth, in a grove of trees in upstate New York in the 1820's. And that over time, and after the visitation of several resurrected heavenly beings, the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which had been taken from the earth, has been restored to earth. This testimony of belief is what sustains me in all that I do in my life each day. It provides me with hope and joy, while bringing immense happiness to my life.

How I live my faith

I strive to demonstrate Christ-like attributes in my life, for it is upon His atonement and His doctrine that the church is founded. Because I strive to follow the teachings of Jesus, I try each day to serve others. My goal each day in life is to live the 'First and great commandment', as found in the book of Matthew in the New Testament.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Eric
The Book of Mormon contains the writings of ancient prophets of God who lived on the American continent from approx 600 BC to 400 AD. The writings in this book are those teachings and revelations of these prophets, given to the people they led at that time. Hence this book contains the teachings of Christ, and teach Him and his Atonement for each one of us. It is another witness of Jesus Christ. As I noted above, through personal prayer and revelation, I received a personal witness through the Holy Ghost, that the Book of Mormon, indeed is the word of God. I know this with all my heart. I promise you that if you will read the book, ponder its teachings and pray to God with sincerity and real intent, the Holy Ghost will manifest the truth to you! Show more Show less
