Hi I'm Alex

I'm Texan. I am a Mormon. Howdy!

About Me

Well, I belong to a small happy family of two - my wife and I. I am a grad student in Occupational Therapy and love studying about the human mind and our reason for being. Whenever I get a chance I enjoy salsa dancing, running, and catching up on current events. Many people find it hard to believe that I am Latino yet a Mormon. Believe it or not, there are millions more Latino-Mormons just like me!

Why I am a Mormon

If you open up a newspaper nowadays you won't read too far before you see what kind of world we are living in. I am a firm believer that we are what we believe in; our character is defined by the choices we make on a daily basis. I am a Mormon because through the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ we can know exactly how we we should direct our lives so that we can receive the greatest blessings our Heavenly Father wants for us. His Gospel as revealed by modern prophets is exactly what we need in order to be truly happy.

How I live my faith

I am actively involved in service both within the community and in callings in the Church. Some service projects that I've had the opportunity include hurricane relief help for those areas in and around Houston and Galveston that were effected by recent hurricanes. The Church also has its own welfare program and I enjoy helping out by assisting low-income families receive help via food products and finding employment.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Alex
This is a resounding YES! Mormons believe that God has always revealed His will through his servants the prophets (and continues to do so even today!). The Bible contains the Word of God as written by the prophets in Jerusalem and surrounding areas. The only difference with Mormons is that along with the Bible, we also have the Book of Mormon, which was the Word of God as revealed by the prophets living in the Americas during the Old and New Testament times. Both books serve to testify of Christ and His Gospel. Show more Show less
