Hi I'm Scott

I love sports, outdoors, and numbers. And I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports like basketball, baseball/softball, and of course croquet. I love to be outdoors hiking, mountain biking, cycling. I also really like Christian rock music. I am an aspiring handyman. I have been married for three very happy years.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be and am a Christian because it makes me feel good inside. I know that when I am trying my best to do what God has told me to do there really is no better feeling. I base my Mormon faith on how closely it adheres to Jesus' teachings and because I have read the Book of Mormon and I know it is from God based on the answers I have received to my prayers.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying each day to live and act like Jesus would. I also work hard to let my wife know how much I love her. I also attend meetings every week and strive to learn something and meet someone new each time I go. I enjoy the opportunity to go to church and interact with others, especially now that I live far away from my own family.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Scott
Each missionary is encouraged to save money to be able to pay for the expenses they will encounter as they serve the Lord full-time. Families of those missionaries are also encouraged to help sacrifice and pay for that opportunity. There is also a fund that other members can donate to those that do not have the financial capability to do so. In summary, the missionary program is based on donations and sacrifice of personal funds, whether direct or indirect to each individual missionary. Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Scott
Self-reliance is important because ultimately in this life and after this life we only have control of ourselves. Being self-reliant is the essence of self control. When you are self-reliant you are as independent as possible. This practice builds character and really allows us to be well rounded and in the best position possible to help those around us just like Jesus Christ would do. We must help others when they are in need or distress, and if we first have our own house in order then when we will have the opportunity to help others we will be able to seize the moment. Emergencies are never a good thing and are often a surprise. By doing all in your power to prepare for emergencies you mitigate the potential negatives of the event. Thus reducing your worry before disaster strikes and curbing your stress when it does. Show more Show less
