Hi I'm Krista

I grew up in Houston, Texas. I am the mother of four and the teacher of many. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of four, wife of 23 years. I have a culinary background and I love to teach and volunteer my time in whatever way I can to protect education for our youth.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know He lives, I know He loves me and my family and I know He knows who I am personally. I belong to His church and follow His teachings because I want to be like Him and live with Him forever with my family. I am grateful for the teachings we have been given through the scriptures and His prophet on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson, and those before, who helped restore the Priesthood to the earth. I am a Mormon, not only because I was born into a Mormon family but because I know that these things are true and they have only brought me happiness.

How I live my faith

I strive everyday to live in a way that those around me want to know more about me. I serve as a leader in my community as the Council PTA President and serve those around me to help build a safe educational community. I have 38 schools who look to our board for support and I love serving them and sharing my values with them. I also teach youth ages 16-18 every morning at 6 a.m. in a scripture study class called Seminary. I have 20 youth who attend every morning to learn more of the scriptures and we discuss how they apply to them. We study all the books of scripture, one book per year, slowly and methodically as we try to help understand what our Heavenly Father wants us to know from these books. I also get to play the piano in our children's church called Primary every Sunday. I get to hear the youth testify and teach eachother every day and the children learning every Sunday morning - it has been a very rewarding few years!

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

We are expected to not eat or drink anything that would be harmful or addictive to our bodies. We specifically adhere to the counsel to not drink coffee, tea or alcoholic drinks, but there are also harmful and addictive drinks we are asked to stay away from, such as energy drinks. Our "law" was a revelation to Joseph Smith to help us each to stay healthy and have our minds stay alert at all times. Show more Show less
