Hi I'm Kaylie

I'm a brand new mommy who is aspiring to be a writer between diaper changes, and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 21 year-old college student who is a brand new mommy married to the most excellent speller in the world, a smoothie fanatic who always has her nose in a book, and a dreamer who is totally amped about life. When I grow up, I want to be a writer. Traveling is a passion I share with my husband. We also dig Jeopardy, and Michael Jackson.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my whole happiness is a product of my faith. Knowing that I can be with my family forever brings me so much joy. I know my Heavenly Father loves me, and I feel him bless my life every day. For me, pure happiness is enough, and I find it in my faith.

How I live my faith

My faith is such an integral part of the way I live that it is hard to pin down exact methods of how I live it. Every day I try to be Christlike in my interactions with others. I often fail--but that's part of it--because even in my failings I am learning. I am trying my best to be a good person.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Self-reliance is important to Mormons because providing service to others is a fundamental part of living our religion. If we are not self-reliant, and aren't able to take care of ourselves, we are not capable of serving. We can only lift from where we stand, is how we like to put it. Preparedness, both emergency and otherwise, is important to us because we are taught "if ye are prepared, ye shall not fear" (D&C 38:30). We believe in modern day prophets who give us counsel directly from God. These prophets have taught us the importance of being prepared, both spiritually and physically, for natural disasters and other emergencies that will occur while we live on this earth. Emergencies of any kind can be frightening, but our Father in Heaven has warned us of these trials through his prophets so that we can be prepared when they arrive, face them with courage, and be successful in overcoming these hardships with His help.
